I started working with Valerie last month to help address my dog PJ’s separation anxiety. She’s learning that acting out and clawing at physical barriers are ineffective at getting what she wants (me and/or food) and that the key to all things good is calm, polite behavior. I appreciate Val’s thoughtful training strategy and simple, logical exercises that I can incorporate in our daily routine. Feeling hopeful!

What a game changer! I'm so glad that I found Pet Behavior Help! I appreciated Valerie's insights and feedback during our sessions. She helped me understand the behaviors I was seeing, and not just how to react to them. I found that the exercises and 'homework' assignments that she provided in between sessions to be invaluable! This really helped us cement new behaviors in between sessions as we continued to work through Quincy's anxiety and reactivity. I'm happy to report that he is no longer the neighborhood menace during our walks! Highly recommend!

Both of my dogs trained at PHB, and I can say for sure that they are the best training facilities we’ve ever worked with! Especially given I have tried many facilities in the Durham chapel hill area. They have the best Rally and agility instructors, and has laid great foundation for my puppies to continue their dog sports! They also have very reasonable price for the training quality they give, and I recommended many dog parents to train their dogs here :)

Having adopted a 2-year old Aussie terrier, Pax, from a rescue 3 weeks ago, we knew we needed help with his training. I got in touch with Valerie within a week knowing that I did not want to teach this “smart-as-a-whip” terrier incorrectly and then have to reteach him. My goal is to be able to do some kind of obedience work with Pax because he is so focused. Already, from one in-home consultation, Pax and I have become a stronger team. Valerie gave me lots of instructions and told me to do whatever I could so that eventually we would master them all. It is usually two steps forward and 1/2-1 step back, but we are always making progress. The most important lesson I have learned is that the dog needs to buy into the relationship so that I am not luring or forcing him to behave, rather he i

Edit Aug 2024: SO over the moon with how far my Charlie girl has come with the help of Val and PBH. I have NEVER received so many compliments on a pet’s behavior before. Charlie has become so confident, calm, and well-mannered after the work we’ve done through the guidance received through PBH. Over the moon with this company for giving me the best life with my Charlie girl!! I started training at PBH with my current dog, Charlie, in February of this year. We attended a group puppy obedience class that was well structured and helpful. Towards the end of the class, Charlie started exhibiting increased reactivity. Our instructor (Amanda) made helpful recommendations on how to deal with the behavior in the moment and also connected me to another instructor, Val (PBH owner) for private lesson
