I don’t want to in any way bash shelter workers. You guys deal with more than people realize and I thank all of you for that. However I went through the most traumatizing experience after bringing home a dog on a week trial, and it seemed as though no one cared to reach out to me to follow up. It all started when I was in contact with the spca about seeing a specific dog they had posted. They said he was available and I got there 9 am that next morning with 2 kids and my 5 year old dog to be told adoptions don’t start til 12, ok my mistake, I leave, email the spca and update them that I made a mistake showed up at 9 but I’ll be back at 12 on the dot for this dog. They responded back to me and all seemed well. 12 o’clock came. I was the first person in that adoption area. I said I was here

Thank you SPCA (Rachel) for you assistance in helping my wife and I bring Small Girl into our home. It took a few visits for Small Girl to warm up before she made the journey to her home (fostering). She has been here a week and I could swear she was a house dog her entire life.

( watch video) When we arrived, everyone at first seemed kind and welcoming. They took us into a private room, but honestly, the space felt so cold and sterile. Considering what happens in that room — saying goodbye to someone you love — you’d think they’d try to make it a little more comforting. Everything was okay until the woman came in to administer the medication. Her whole demeanor completely changed the energy. She was rushed, cold, and short with her answers — no compassion, no warmth. It felt incredibly unprofessional, especially in such an emotional moment. To make things worse, she refused to let me record, even though her face wouldn’t have been in the video — she said she didn’t want to be filmed “in case she messed up.” At first, I thought maybe I was just too emotional to

I’ve taken my dogs here a few times for the vet clinic and I’ve been impressed each time. There is definitely a wait involved (getting in line before 7 if you can helps!), but that’s just part of the process and is totally fair. The entire staff is super friendly and helpful. I’ve never felt rushed or talked down to. The vet techs and vets take the time to explain things to you, and genuinely don’t seem to be wanting to get you out the door as fast as they can. Overall I’d rather wait a few hours for great care and an unbeatable price, rather than call a private vet to get an appt 7 days later and pay 4x the price. Thank you SPCA!
