Pender Veterinary Centre - Fairfax (24/7 Emergency)

Pender has always shown immense care to my bunny Fynn and me as his bun mom. They were super helpful, kind and really just on top of it when we had to rush him to the emergency room at 1:30 in the morning this past Monday morning when we realized he just hadn’t been eating at all. They stabilized him and made him comfy until the exotics specialist got in at 7am. They assured us he was in good hands and I knew he’d get the absolute best possible care. Fynn stayed 2 nights in total until they finally got him eating on his own again and having bowel movements. Pickup was easy, medications were thoroughly explained and honestly the overall cost was not nearly as much as I had feared. Not only that, the entire staff are exceptionally supportive during tough times. We have been patients for 14+ years of Pender and in October of 2024, we faced one of the most devastating losses once can imagine, we said our goodbyes in one of Pender’s private, and homelike rooms and sent our 13 year old fur baby, Bunker over the rainbow bridge. Eggnog has been a patient at Pender since I rescued her at 10 weeks old. She was scheduled for her spay with Dr. Andrew Voell who had detected a heart murmur prior to her surgery. To make a long story short, he determined that it was not safe for her to go under anesthesia until he’s able to uncover what’s going on with her heart. Dr. Voell is thorough, caring, and deeply knowledgeable. You can feel how much he genuinely cares about animals and their families. Eggnogs visits feel calm, thorough, and reassuring. Dr. Voell has called late in the evening to follow up on Eggnog and always makes sure I have a clear understanding of next steps. He even called us on Christmas Eve. I’m grateful for the dedication of everyone at Pender.

Dr. Padte is absolutely incredible — knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely dedicated to getting to the bottom of things. They treated me with so much compassion and made sure Paxton got exactly what he needed. My boy went in after getting into some bones and started throwing up blood, then we discovered he was also peeing blood. They immediately figured out what was going on and created a clear, effective treatment plan. By the very next day, he was already improving — back to his happy, goofy self with only a little blood left

I recently took my ferret to this facility and definitely won’t be taking him back after this experience. Our appointment was at 3:00pm and you have to arrive 10 mins before to fill out paper work. We arrived at 2:51pm. We were not moved into a room until maybe 3:20pm. I would’ve expected for them to clean the room before being moved into it, there was pieces of trash on the table, hair/fur and hay on the floor. After waiting for sometime I told my bf to ask the front desk how much longer we needed to wait. The receptionist proceeds to tell us they had 6 emergencies and that there was only one doctor working. It is not our fault there is only one doctor working, hire more staff please. The doctor comes in around 4:10pm and begins the exam, I explain to her my concern with his ear, she pro
