I want to first say thank you for the work love and dedication that you do for these animals it is not easy.... But your policy keeps these babies from good homes you should never turn down a ready and approved family for a potential return family just because they adopted with you before It is sad to see those sweet bonded pair of bulldogs still sitting in a kennel and not a home because your policy allowed a family from NY to just call in and say I want the without even being here when they had a willing and ready home right here to take both ...now they are still without a family and I have adopted 2 other furbabies from other places. .this makes me sad for them and the possible reason someone of the animals are still there for mths without a home....give them to the people who want th

We recently adopted our second cat from the Pender County Humane Society. I would assign this place ten stars if I could! Maria and Christine, plus all of the other workers and volunteers, are kind and compassionate about these animals. The facility is neat and well-managed. The adoption process was a breeze! If you plan to adopt- you should look here first!

We adopted our puppy from Pender Humane and had nothing but a wonderful experience. Maria helped with our application, kept me up to date on all current vet visits/shots and made a home visit with our new puppy to make sure it was a good fit. Maria and her staff genuinely love and care for every single animal that they house. It shows in how well they are treated and trained. Working in a shelter is not for the faint of heart and anyone that gives their time to these animals in need is special. Thanks to Maria and all her staff for a happy, healthy new member of our family. She is so loved!

I was told I could bring in a kitten here for the lady’s at the front desk to be slightly condescending and rude. They said they are no longer taking out of county animals. The place doesn’t look very well kept either, no air conditioning for the animals from what I was able to see. Kinda happy I didn’t have the kitty stay here so I’ll look for another place.

We are so happy that we chose to adopt from PCHS! The owners are very quick at responding back to questions. It is very clear that they care for their animals. We just adopted a kitten. We got to meet her and the other kittens in a timely manner. The gentleman at the shelter was super knowledgeable and helpful. It was a very thorough adoption process with very thoughtful questions about providing a good quality of life for the animal. All of the staff we have had interactions with were very nice. We are so thankful for PCHS for finding out kitty and giving her a forever home.
