Paws for Life K9 Rescue - People & Pet Innovation Center

Paws for Life is an amazing organization. They have an amazing program to help men in prison get a new lease on life, by being given a 2nd chance in life to be productive in society. They are taught how to care, love and train dogs. Rita Blackwell who runs the program helps families who qualify, enroll in this 6 week program, to get their dog obedience trained. My husky went this year and came back with improved socialization behavior, with having been around other dogs. Thank you Paws For Life.

This rescue is absolutely amazing! The staff were extremely knowledgeable & welcoming and the dog areas were well kept & spotless. Not to mention the play/training yard is super nice for the doggies! You can really tell the people that are a part of this place actually value what they do and that this isn’t “just some job” to them. Thanks to them, I found my new best friend and he has been loving every moment in his new forever home. I have been loving every moment with such a sweet baby <3 Please support this organization in any way you can!!!

This shelter has vicious dogs that bite children. Stay away. This dog named "gray" (walked by a woman named Beth) bit my daughter as my daughter was standing on the sidewalk not doing anything or approaching the dog in any way

We found the newest member of our family at Paws for Life and they have been so helpful in welcoming him into our home. They also have many resources including one-on-one, group classes and even a board and train program. We just got our 8 month old puppy back from the 4 week board & train Prison Training Program and he has a great foundation of commands, walking better on leash and even his is noticeably more calm. We would definitely recommend visiting Paws for Life if you're looking for a dog. Thanks Paws for Life for making our little family whole again!

I was asked to come into the shelter to finish paperwork and pick up a dog I had already been approved for. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk was very kind and helpful and continued the adoption process with me. That quickly changed when an older woman—who I later found out is the president, Alex Tonner—came over with her computer and loudly went through my entire application in a demeaning, almost yelling tone. She spoke to me as if I was completely unfit to adopt the dog, despite the fact that I had already been approved and was told to come in, and despite staff telling me just days earlier that we would be a great fit. This was humiliating and completely unprofessional, especially since it happened in front of other people. I was essentially reprimanded for choosing this dog
