Ontario Spay and Neuter

Dr. Jennifer Schmidgall yelled at me today in her office and I was made to leave Ontario Spay & Neuter and told I cannot come back after asking a reasonable question about a payment plan for my cat’s urgent spay and possible pyometra. The Dr. Schmidgall told me it’s extra work when cats have pyometra so I assured her my cat possibly has this just so there’s no surprises. She then raised the price on the spot from $175 to $800. Due to the drastic change in price and desperate need for help I asked if a payment plan was possible, she said no, insisting she needed full payment because “people don’t pay her back.” She then made belittling statements like, “Do you go to the grocery store and get free food?” and “Do you go get steak when you’re hungry?”, and yelled “NO!” at me. Awesome place! The staff are very friendly and attentive. I have brought 3 cats to get spayed here (two of my cats at 1 1/2 years old, one cat at 6 months old) and every single experience has been incredibly smooth. One of my girls had been in heat on the day of the appointment (not ideal) yet they did not have an issue with it and she healed up perfectly after a week! Initially, I was pretty nervous (as most pet owners are) when bringing in my babies for their surgeries, but the staff made sure to answer any questions that I had, which gave me peace of mind that my kitties are in good hands. Staff was very professional and courtesy. They were able to help with paperwork if you needed assistance. And they are very reasonable as far as price goes. They were able to make our baby dog Chole feel comfortable and with ease. I recommend going there for your precious pets. 🙂

Took my cat to get spayed, not even 2 hours later she was in the ER due to the operation. Staff started to try and push the blame on me for the reason she was in the ER due to how far along she was in pregnancy. She was bleeding out and a stitch wasn’t properly done. I guess for the amount I paid was the care she got. I’d suggest going elsewhere if you don’t want to later pay a $600~ ER bill due to their incompetence.

This place sucks and honestly made me really uncomfortable. If you have a young pet that needs to be spayed or neutered, I highly recommend trying Paw Mission in Fontana instead. Yes, you have to wait for an appointment, but the wait is nothing compared to the Humane Society, and sometimes you get lucky with something sooner. We found a 5-month-old kitten and wanted to get her spayed and vaccinated before finding her a home. I also wanted to avoid her going into heat and spraying everywhere. This place had an opening ASAP. I already had a bad feeling, but my husband booked it anyway. Right away they start charging for everything. My husband was asked if we wanted nausea meds after surgery — which I thought was standard — but that was an extra $43 on top of $175 to spay a 7-lb kitten. Shots
