Customer Reviews
I went to Old Dominion Humane to inquire about fostering a dog. The shelter team worked together to make what could have been a daunting experience into an easy and pleasant one. They were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. They are inundated right now so if you have room in your heart and home, please consider fostering or adopting from them 💕
We had heard great things about this rescue and decided to get a sweet female dog from there. The way this dog was described to us as outgoing, loving, good with kids, and loved people was just not true. In fact we found out after that she had been adopted out multiple times and each time returned, which they failed to mention. She is a very sweet dog but has such immense anxiety she doesn’t want to eat, doesn’t leave her bed, skittish, absolutely terrified of the outside even light coming through the window, and is most definitely not the outgoing dog they described. She has the most extreme reaction to light and the outside we have ever seen. She was vomiting and having essentially a panic attack. We decided to return her as she clearly was not adjusting well and we didn’t want do trauma
Adopted both of my pups here - Tundra, adopted 1/8/22, when I was in college in VA and travelled quite a ways from SC to VA to adopt Goose on 12/17/25!!
We adopted our “jeep dog” Cedar after our senior pup passed away. My husband had a hole in his heart and missed having an adventure buddy. We definitely did not plan on a puppy, as we know they can be quite a bit of work. I saw the instant connection though and we couldn’t resist. Here we are now with our beautiful young adult and he is all we could have ever asked for in a dog!
I adopted this sweet girl from ODHS in January 2025. They were great for working with my schedule to be able to pick her up on a Saturday since I was traveling from 4.5 hours away. And endlessly patient with my repeated emails about how she was doing and when she would be ready. She was rescued with 3 pups that had to be weaned first. Really reasonable adoption fees, and you can tell that everyone is committed to ensuring the pups are a good fit and going to a good home. Can't recommend them enough.
