Beautiful place; friendly, knowledgeable staff, and I found my furbaby match and brought him home. Adopted wonderful pet from NSAL long ago so headed back to look for a kitty. These folks genuinely care about animals. Feline side of shelter is now a catutopia and the residents are happy and healthy, frolicking in large, sunny rooms. The NSAL vetting process for adoptions is thorough, which is a good thing. Friendly, very helpful, patient staffer Akido (sp?) let me take my time finding The One. Our catten is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and was vet-checked before we headed home. All questions answered and. large bag of food plus litter were provided. Tabby catten Gabriel settled in quickly and is a loving joy. We're over the moon. Highly recommend North Shore Animal League for a pet.
We were devastated when our old man, king of the castle, passed. He was also a North Shore puppy that lived a long happy life. We knew we wanted multiple dogs and these boys have changed my life. Yes, they are very adamant about their rules, with GOOD reason. They adopt out thousands of dogs, and deal with plenty of people who don’t know that they wouldn’t be a good pet parent. I’m glad they do such due diligence when adopting out dogs. Giving these dogs what they deserve is costly and time consuming. Our babies receive regular vet care, always have someone home, go on hikes, walks and play dates, have gone through professional training, and we truly took this process seriously. Stitch was a giant ball of fear and Parker was a teeny little puppy who needed everything from potty training
There are really nice people at North Shore but I have to say that the adoption application process was a nightmare. You feel like you are being interrogated. Your references will feel frustrated by the pressing questions as well. They will deny your application for unrealistic, no makes sense reasons even though you give them all supporting documents they need. I truly believe they try everything not to give the pets for adoption at this shelter. Plus we were told straight that the good looking kittens spared and goes for media show sometimes and were first considered adoption by the staff. When you get there they push the older cats to you for adoption consideration. So, not worth your energy. I do not even want to bring up all the confidential personal information they gather from your
North Shore Animal League trainers and assistance or above and beyond my expectations. Feel right there with answers to my questions, help me to understand what each of the dogs I was looking at would need. The dog I adopted is perfect for me. They guided me through all of my questions and answer to everything. I would recommend this wonderful organization to anyone who wanted to adopt either dog or cat. This is Danny Boy!
I was fully informed of my cat’s medical history during the adoption process and was told his condition was essentially “unmanageable.” Despite that discouraging assessment, within one week of proper medicinal care, my cat was already a completely different cat visually, and his personality began to truly flourish. This made it very clear that with the right care, his condition is very manageable—which makes the experience that followed even more upsetting. I am beyond upset with my recent experience at North Shore Animal League Vet, and I feel obligated to warn other pet owners. I adopted my cat from North Shore, meaning the entire staff is fully aware of his medical history. My cat has extensive health issues, including FIV, and requires careful, consistent medical management. I broug
