Dr. Courtney is truly extraordinary. My dog has a long history of anesthesia issues, and I’ve never felt more understood, supported, and genuinely cared for than I did with her. She approached her dental procedure with such empathy and thoughtful attention, taking the time to explain every step and making sure I felt completely at ease. The service she and her exceptional surgical team—Stephanie and Grace—provided was nothing short of amazing. You can feel the joy they bring to their work and the compassion behind every action. The vet techs and vets at north center animal hospital are absolutely amazing. They are so patient with my very high maintenance dog and always make sure he is comfortable before starting any type of exam. They always call before the appt to get extra details and genuinely care about what’s going on, they will also always try to squeeze us in early if they’re able too which I appreciate so much. I am so grateful to live close by this vet and highly highly recommend!

Fantastic animal hospital. I’ve been bringing my cat here for almost eight years, and even though I live in the suburbs now, this place is worth the drive. The staff is always kind and friendly. Dr Castillo is the absolute best - a true cat whisperer! - and Leah, the vet tech who took care of us today, was so sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable. My concerns were taken seriously and all my questions were answered - and the toy at the end of the visit was a lovely surprise! Thanks for another great visit, NCAH! Highly recommend!

Most attentive and affordable vet experience you’ll ever have. They truly care, they listen to you, and they follow up after appointments to check on your pet. My cat is an angry old man with PTSD from his old vet, but Dr Locher couldn’t have put us both more at ease. Everyone who works here is wonderful. Who knew going to the vet could be such a great experience?

We have been patients at North Center Animal Hospital since we moved to the neighborhood, and we are so grateful! Everyone on staff from the front office team up to the care team go above and beyond to ensure comfort, understanding, and kind care. All of the vet techs are wonderful and sensitive to the needs and we have found intelligent and compassionate care with Dr. Locher. He was a partner and caring provider for our cat Figaro who passed late 2025 with kidney disease, and provides the same care and attention to our other kitty Ferguson. When we bring home our puppy in the spring, we know that she will also receive this dedicated and empathetic care from Dr. Locher and the team.
