Nash County Animal Shelter

The shelter just recently changed locations from Nashville to Rocky Mount, so we had a bit of a hard time finding it Monday, and showed up later than we wanted, but since we knew what dog we were there to see, we were still allowed to go back to see him, and made plans to have a meeting next day between him and our existing dog. The pups were allowed to meet through the fence, and then when that went well, they met outside the fence, and still did great, so we decided to take him home! It was clear that the shelter worker we spoke with had spent time with the dog personally, and really cared for him, which made us feel even better about giving such a great pup a home! Special thanks to Doug and Matt for taking the time to help us.

Rarely open or answers phone, doesn't respond until weeks/months later. Doesn't show up for reported stays and repeated excuses as to why they can't or will not come out. Worst government run shelter I've personally dealt with.

I call many times about 6 dogs in 301 s near self storage Noone come And dogs still on the street for more than one month

Contacted animal shelter to pick up a cat caught in our trap since it had been eating our chickens. I was told it couldn't be picked up because it wasn't in their trap. To get a trap you have to request it and wait I guess we need to let it continue to kill chickens so we can catch it again. We are in our 80s and don't get around well. Thanks for nothing

I have some reviews. What I am seeing is how rude people are. If they are that rude and so many people have complained saying they were cursed at, why are they stilled employed? I must say though, when I adopted a pet at the animal shelter in Rocky Mount NC I was treated wonderful, polite and the adoption went great.
