MSPCA at Nevins Farm

I have dealt with veterinarians, my entire life and never before have I had such a positive experience. Every single person in this establishment Angell Clinic was upbeat, when I finally had the pleasure of meeting the veterinarian Dr Annette Fay she validated my positive experience I thank you all and so does my baby Maltese Summer.

I recently adopted a sweet & loving dog from MSPCA Nevins Farm in Methuen and had a wonderful experience! I went on a particularly busy day, and so I had to wait, though I expected that. The staff were communicative, patient, informative, and really took their time to get to know me and ensure that any match would be a good fit for both the dog and me. I had an overall very positive experience and would recommend MSPCA Nevins Farm (and any MSPCA location) to anyone looking to adopt! They really care about ensuring that each animal goes home with the right person / family.

I'm in shock at all the negative reviews, especially the ones comparing the process to adopting a human child or stating they were "rudely denied" for one reason or another. I can't imagine the behavior in shelter of the people leaving those reviews, because I had the most simple and helpful adoption process imaginable. Myself and my family checked out the MSPCA website to see what pup we were most interested, and found an adorable blind elderly Shih Tzu named "princess". We decided to make the drive from out of state to visit, explained our housing situation, and our interest. They let us meet her, put in our application, and tak her home that very day. They even accommodated us, while it was near closing and they'd have rather waited a day to let us do the paperwork and bring her home, s

Words can't even describe the heartbreak my family just experienced. I adopted an amazing cat from Nevins this month, only to get a call 7 days later that an owner had come forward claiming the cat. This is such a hard and sad situation, but something that I could have better understood and processed with the correct approach from staff. After multiple phone calls with an insufferable and heartless staff member named Yvonne, who was demanding we bring the cat back without providing any proof, context, or empathy - our situation was escalated to VP of Animal Welfare, Mike. Mike is kind and lovely, and the only particle of this experience that made it bearable. I seriously encourage potential adopters to pressure this organization to become a lot more people friendly. Their militant approach to the process allows little contact with the animals for the magic of a relationship to begin. When we were somehow deemed a good match with a dog we went into a room where we were told to sit on a floor and not look or make contact with a poor shivering creature a volunteer forbid us to even touch. From reading recent reviews, this is not anything new and despite The organization's responses the process goes unmitigated. If you truly care for animals, you also care for their owners and this place needs to loosen up or change leadership.
