Mountain River Veterinary Hospital

Hands down, the best vet experience ever. I had never been to this vet before, but we had an emergency with our cat, who was all but dead. They met us on there on the weekend and took great control of the situation. After a few days of being hydrated on an IV, he still showed little progress. We knew it was time to put him down. We went to do it and I changed my mind. The vet was very clear not to sway us in either direction but he did say he always fights for the animal. So we made the choice to fight for him too. They put a feeding tube in and in less than 48 hours we were bringing him home! They all loved him and held him. I'll always be grateful to them for all helping have a hand in him surviving. I'll be switching all my animals over there.

7 months ago an abandoned / abused dog showed up on my property. She was malnourished, could barely walk, and you could see every bone in her body. MRV helped me care for her and went above and beyond in regards to her situation. This dog had trust issues and abandonment issues effecting her trust in people and every tech / doctor / staff member who interacted with her made sure to be so gentle and respectful of her. They listened to her body language and genuinely created a safe space for her. She even trusted them to the point where they could take her to the back without me and file her nails with no need of a mussel. I’m so grateful for all they’ve done for us and the care they showed to this dog.

I absolutely could not recommend this vet more! The only place I trust anymore to take care of my pups! I took my 3yr old cattle dog in for a neuter today and was amazed at the professionalism, level of care for both me and my pup, and what an amazing job they did in general! From check in to check out the staff were incredibly friendly, very prompt at responding to concerns and questions, and extremely attentive. They even did a free nail trim while he was under! Not only all of this but this was the most reasonably priced neuter in all of Bonneville and jefferson counties. Dr. Olaveson did a fantastic job with our pup, and the surgery site was clean, and healing well! Our pup is on a road to great recovery, and we couldn't be more thankful.

We have been going to Mountain River for a number of years and have been very impressed with the vets and the staff. Recently, we had to have our 12-year-old dog put to sleep because of a fast growing cancerous tumor. It was a difficult decision, but Dr. Pond was so helpful and considerate and made it a very peaceful experience. We left the office that day heartbroken, but we knew we had done the right thing. About a week later, I received a Sympathy card in the mail from Mountain River, signed by the staff, and to my surprise there was a print of my dog’s paw and nose! I was immediately overcome with emotion and so touched that they would go to such great lengths. It meant so much! I brought my border aussie, Charlie, in for a teeth cleaning and had a genuinely great experience. Charlie is a sensitive dog with some fear-based reactivity, so I was a bit nervous about how stressful the process might be for him. I called ahead to explain his situation and was told it wouldn’t be an issue — and they absolutely proved that to be true. Without me needing to ask, they adjusted the process to minimize his stress. Instead of kenneling him, they brought us straight into an exam room and administered anesthesia with me present, then did his cleaning first. For pickup, they again brought us into a room and had Charlie with us while he woke up, which made a huge difference for him.
