Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue

We adopted Wilby last Thursday. We learned about Wilby thru Embark DNA match results showing he was our current adopted shelter stray dog’s biological brother. We reached out to Wilby’s “owner” via Embark to find it was MABCR and Wilby was available for adoption! We immediately applied and were lucky to find that he would be a good fit in our home. MABCR embodies all that is good with animal rescue organizations. They care about the animals they pull for rescue, they care about the people they adopt to, and they care about the communities where their dogs will live. We adopted Sarge a few weeks ago and the process was fast and easy. Sarah and Skylar are very thorough and really get to understand the family looking to adopt and then places that said family with the right dog. The application is a long processes but rightfully so. Do everything they say in the app and you won’t have any issues with an incomplete app. Thank you again and keep saving those dogs

We couldn't be happier with our choice to adopt through MABCR. We adopted our sweet Bea and she has fit in so well with our family. When we contacted Sarah she immediately knew which dog would be right for us and after our interview we knew we were in good hands. She gave us tonnes of information about how to care for her, along with training material and resources. We felt so prepared with adopting our first dog since starting a family. Since adopting they have continued to check in and provide more tips and tricks to ensure it's a successful adoption. We feel that they put in a lot of thought to each adoption and truly care about every dog and who they are placed with. We can't recommend them enough.

I can't say enough nice things about MABCR! We've adopted three border collies from this terrific rescue. Our first adoption was back in 2008, and it was a lengthy process that included a home visit and a background check. But the dog we ended up with, our sweet Bunk, was and still is the PERFECT pet for our family -- so the process clearly works! He'll be 14 in September. Over the last two years, we've also adopted two senior border collies from MABCR (Lomez and Glory), both of whom have been wonderful additions to our family. MABCR takes great care to match the right dog(s) with the right forever family, and we feel so lucky to have been matched with these precious pups!

I had previously owned a Border Collie so I know the breed. I applied to adopt one of their dogs. Was told the dog would scale my fence which of course I wouldn’t want a dog to be hurt. I asked if I would be considered for another dog. Was told my application had to be reviewed. I submitted vet records and never heard back. Not sure they really want to get their dogs adopted out. I have wonderful references and my dogs mean the world to me. Unfortunately their dogs will never know.
