May 17th, my husband and I came in to see this adorable cat named Space Ghost. He was so timid and scared, you could tell he was a stray for a few years, but he wanted love and you could see that. You could tell how much he trusted the workers though! We knew, without a doubt, he was meant to come home with us. We took him home immediately, he was scared but very curious! Week by week he warmed up more and more! Fast forward a few months, Space Ghost is an absolute snuggle bug who is always following us around. Our 12 year old senior dog, Sheba, loves him so much and vice versa! They are absolutely inseparable. He brought so much life to Sheba, she's much more active again and constantly looking for him. I am so beyond grateful they took in this sweet stray and made him comfortable until h
Me and my boyfriend adopted the sweetest cat ever from here earlier this week! He is a very sweet, loving and clingy cat! He is very healthy and was sent home the same day! The adoption process was super quick, we put him on hold for 24 hours and it was $25. When we came to pick him up they gave us all his medical records and free bag of food they use! They also gave us coupons for petco and pet supplies plus. We also got a free vet visit. Michigan Humane was a great experience!
Trying to schedule a vet appointment at the Westland location is frustrating. I called yesterday at approximately 4 p.m. I was on hold for an hour. Then, I hung up. I called today at 12:30. There was a recording that they weren't accepting any more calls due to a high volume and to try again later. I called later at 6:30 p.m. The phone lines close at 7:00 p.m. I was on hold for a half hour. At 7:00 p.m., a representative came on the line. I was able to schedule the appointment. It took three attempts and a total of an hour and a half to schedule an appointment. Is this a reasonable process?
We adopted a cat three days ago and we were completely unaware that she was extremely sick. While going over her adoption details the tech helping us did not once mention that anything was going on other than normal stresses of being in a new environment. The first day we brought her home she was sneezing a lot and that progressed into extreme drooling and labored open mouth breathing. I took her to TWO emergency vets, and then a regular vet within two days of having her. The Humane Society was of zero help, stating that we could surrender her back for vet care, but there was no guarantee that we would get her back, not to mention having to pay the adoption fee twice on top of all of the vet fees that have already incurred. The issue is not taking her to the vet, the issue is that they wil
Do not ever adopt here. I adopted a cat last Saturday and she has worms. Poor thing is so ravenously hungry, she cries all the time for food. I don’t know what their intake process is and I recognize that humane societies are not swimming in cash, but I feel like this is ridiculous. Why would you not check for this stuff before putting her out for adoption? Like selling a used car with a busted transmission. In fact, the last time I went here a few months ago to find a cat, EVERY SINGLE ONE had a chronic, lifelong illness. Kidney disease, medicated diets, skin infections… you name it, they had it. They don’t even test for FIV. “You can do that with your own vet.” Uhh what? It’s kinda fishy that every single animal I have seen at this shelter is sick… take that as you will. Stay clear if
