I have been a volunteer for this rescue for about 5 years. I am impressed with the way this rescue is organized and run. The rescue pulls animals from high kill shelters, including those in neighboring counties and the desert areas. The founder, Jenny, has a spacious cattery on her property which is kept very clean and houses about 10-15 cats as well as several bunnies. All the animals are well cared for and live in a peaceful, pleasant environment. Jenny is committed to the animals and ensures that they get thorough medical care (spay, neuter, vaccinations. If the animal has a medical issue Jenny will make sure it is treated). She has additional housing for the animals in another building on her property if needed. It has ample provisions. I've adopted 3 cats from Martins home over the years. Jenny is great and does a fantastic job. One advantage to adopting a sanctuary cat is that they already know how to get along with other cats. My Blondie was an only child and spoiled rotten and was not into sharing the spoilage so he gave Natasha the cold shoulder for 2 weeks but she slowly wore him down and they ended up becoming the best of cuddle buddies. Since his passing I've adopted 2 more from Martins home and both were equally as well adjusted.

One night during TNR, a beautiful cat wandered into the trap. He was incredibly friendly, clearly he was once a house cat abandoned to fend for himself. We named him Mochi. Since we couldn't keep Mochi, I reached out to numerous rescue organizations, hoping to find a safe and loving space where he could spend his golden years. Many responded, but none could offer him a home until I connected with Martin's Home. Jenny and Anna were incredibly kind and put Mochi on the waiting list. Before long, Jenny contacted me with the wonderful news that they could provide a safe and loving space for him. I'm so grateful to Martin's Home and to Jenny for her compassion and big heart. I’m a clinical psychologist and animal lover, and I have been involved with Martin’s Home rescue organization for about a year. Our family fostered a cat for Jenny earlier this year. This organization is amazing! Jenny does a great job of selecting animals from shelters and situations involving neglect/abandonment/injury, and makes sure that they can cohabitate with the other animals at the rescue. Her animals are well taken care of. She partners with a local vet and attends to the medical needs of her animals, from spay/neuter to dental to specialized care (eg. cardiology). I have helped transport some of the animals to the vet, and it is impressive how well she keeps on top of any minor issue her animals might have. Jenny has an awesome rescue that adopted out a cat I found to a great home. I used to do rescue in la but recently moved to San Diego. I’m very impressed with Jenny’s care of the animals she’s taking in. I’m very grateful for her help and highly recommend Martins Home to anyone looking to add a new member to their family.
