Update : we did have a second trip back from complications (not at all related to what they did, more so because of our guinea pigs age) The techs were understanding, empathetic and showed a lot of love and care for her. The vet Dr made sure he was prepared and in full communication with the exotic vet on staff thru it all and he handled it all with professionalism and compassion. When we had to make the tough call to help put her to sleep, every staff member was extremely supportive and we appreciate it all during this tough time. Great staff, so nice from the front desk To the tech coming to greet us and get more info and the Dr as well! We are beyond grateful for the team here. We brought our elderly guinea pig in for an emergency visit tonight and the whole team was amazing! They were

Absolutely amazing. They were there for us and most importantly our feather-baby Orion in his time of need. The facility is beautiful and the staff was very caring and kind. Everyone we interacted with was compassionate and helped us feel much more comfortable than when we arrived. Orion will be ok - thanks to these fine folks. And not that it matters, but the emergency fees were very reasonable and less than I expected - Not that I cared about the money at that point.

Long Island Veterinary Specialists truly gave me peace of mind during an incredibly stressful time with my dog, Micky. Under the leadership of Dr. Marino, the entire team went above and beyond in every possible way. They spoke with me every day, explained everything clearly, and treated Micky with genuine love and compassion—not just medical care. The staff is exceptional, kind, and supportive, and you can feel how much they truly care about the animals and their families. I will always be grateful for the dedication, communication, and heart they showed us. I couldn’t recommend Long Island Veterinary Specialists more highly.

I had a really good experience here. I brought my brother’s dog, Bruno, (dogo argentino) here because my brother was overseas. He was diagnosed with anaplasmosis. Which was very difficult to deal with because he wasn’t even standing up. But these people really care and they are super professional. I know hospitals can be expensive but they know what they are doing and you can rest assured that your pet will be in great hands. Every morning and evening we received updates from the doctor via phone while Bruno was there for 3 days. There was one night that they couldn’t get through to us because the Verizon lines were down; they ended up emailing us with an update, which was nice. They also bathed him. Hands down great hospital and lovely staff 🤍

I cannot express enough gratitude for Dr Michael Selmer and his extensive knowledge, empathy and skill in performing a miracle on my 7 year old dog with intervertebral disc disease. My dog was walking very slowly, looked to be in pain, couldn’t handle stairs anymore and had to be pushed in a dog carriage for most of the walks. Dr Selmer’s magic of chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture and cold laser delivered amazing results. My baby was already noticeably better by the third session and back to normal after the sixth. Has not regressed yet. I started to take my other dog (litter mates) for preventative treatment as well.
