Island Pet Lodge

I worked in Niagara County and stayed on Grand Island and I used Island Pet Lodge twice a week from April until the end of September 2025. Chris and his team do a great job. The facility is clear, my dog was safe and I had no concerns about leaving her here. I highly recommend Island Pet Lodge.

*Reactive dog owners you will be pleased* This is the only place we board our reactive GSD if family is unavailable! 4 years ago we adopted our GSD from Diamonds in the Ruff (side plug, they are a great organization). Anyways, he was being boarded here because he is reactive and was unable to be in a foster home. Ever since we have used Island Pet Lodge when we need to board. The staff is small, and they are so respectful. For starters our dog is not dog friendly and is timid with new people. They make sure he isn’t around other dogs and gets time outside on his own. The staff are so respectful to his needs and make sure to respect his limits when working with him. The facilities are super clean, climate controlled and the dogs have indoor/outdoor access during the day from their kennels.

The lodge is incredible! My dog quite literally spins in circles in excitement when we ask him if he wants to "go to school" in the morning. The staff is so friendly, they really take the time to get to know your dog, and make sure they are accommodated and are placed in the company of dogs of similar temperament (i.e. high energy or afternoon napping), and have bent over backwards to accommodate pick up/drop offs by family/friends when my work schedule gets hectic. I can't recommend them more highly!!

2 of the 4 times we’ve used GIPL for our 2 Goldens, they returned home with their entire face/body smelling strongly of urine. When addressed with staff, they denied any problems and seemed to misunderstand why that would be the case. They told me our dogs were “messy”. They are both potty trained well and are not messy, but if that were the case, I find it unreasonable to be paying for accommodations where the dogs are returned in that condition. It was gross and upsetting. The facility seems nice enough for what it is, the cost to board is reasonable, and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately, I don’t trust the cleanliness of the kennels, or that the dogs were attended to properly. Sadly we won’t be returning.

I am forever grateful for the island pet Lodge. I have recently moved out of state so I am no longer using the pet Lodge weekly like I used to and I’ve started looking for a daycare near me and other places out here are horrible. I wouldn’t let my worst enemy go to one of these other places. The next time I go on vacation, and need my dog boarded I will be bringing my dog back to New York to the island pet Lodge before going on vacation. our animals are truly blessed to have a place like the island pet Lodge.
