Kat Carter is truly a God-send in my life. She is hands-down the BEST trainer I have ever worked with. I have joked and called her "the dog whisperer", but it's really the truth. I had a mobility service dog until I lost her to sudden kidney failure on May 7, 2023. She had been by my side for almost 10 years. My son found her on the highway at 5 months old, scooped her up, and brought her home. She learned her name and to sit in less than 24 hours, so I quickly ascertained that she was very smart and eager to please. Knowing that I would need help with my son about to leave the nest, I had her evaluated by Kat who I knew through my job at the time. We had a great experience with Kat in the beginner obedience class! We learned so much and are making progress with several behaviors at home. We will definitely be taking more classes and likely a home consultation for reactive barking. Kat is super friendly, knowledgeable, and her classes are affordable. Kat Carter (owner/trainer) is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, experienced, and attentive to the needs of each and every attending handler(s) and their dog. This is not my first experience taking my dog for training with Kat. I previously brought my older Pomeranian for obedience training, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), and Therapy training. Every class I attend, I always pick up training tips/suggestions/advice that I either forgot or didn’t know, and I’ve been training my various dogs (multiple breeds) for over 30 years. I had a very unruly and hard to manage Golden Retriever pup. Because she is a breeder and I’m a guardian home for her. I had to get her trained right away. We did the four private classes, and by the end of this training, I have a very different dog! I can take her places and she behaves, she listens to what I say, and we are on the right track! I highly Recommend Kat and Hounds Tooth Academy for anyone who needs help with training their dog. We are going to continue on in our lessons. This is a learning experience, not just for the dog, but for the owner! Kat is an excellent instructor and you will come away feeling like you are in control instead of your dog being in control.
