Hodge Canine

I started working with Hodge Canine when I was trying to assess whether my new heeler, Lena, should do a board and train. She lacked confidence in a way I had never experienced. Every new “thing” or experience was scary. My doodle, Lindy, has always been a sweet girl but struggled with direction and stubbornness. In hindsight, I was just not trained on how to train her :) Fast forward to spring 2025, Lena had gained enough confidence where a board and train would benefit her, and I can honestly say the dog I sent is not the dog that returned 4 weeks later. I cannot speak highly enough of the Hodge Canine team. I adopted a sweet but very wild Frenchie mix from Maricopa Animal Care & Control and decided to do the board-and-train program with Hodge. The difference has been incredible—he has been so much easier to train and continues to develop even after completing the program. Throughout the month, they sent regular video updates, which made me feel completely comfortable having him away for that long. What I appreciated most was how focused the Hodge Canine team was on my specific goals for my dog. They took the time to clearly understand what I wanted out of the training and tailored the program accordingly. Joe was wonderful and we are so glad that we worked with him. He helped us with our puppy so we feel more confident in training her and teaching her proper behaviors. He was great with our puppy as well as training not only us but our 10 year old daughter on how we can handle the puppy in different situations. The best dog trainer I have had. I was nervous to start training because one of my dogs is completely blind and wasn’t sure how that would work. But Joe truly cared about our pets and worked with each of them with so much care. He was able to adjust trainings for our blind dog and she has gotten so much more confident. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a trainer who can get the job done while still being compassionate, non judgmental and extremely knowledgeable. They are amazing! 🙂❤️

Deeply appreciate the dedication of Hodge Canine to turn a bouncing-off-the-walls puppy into a family pet who understands commands and can better regulate her behavior to be a welcome member of the household.
