Couldn’t recommend enough. My dog Bentley was going through some neurological issues that we suspected was a brain tumor and they were awesome throughout the whole process. They worked in conjunction with U of I vet neurologists and truly tried everything. Whenever we get a dog again we will definitely be coming back. A few days after we had to put him down we reviewed a signed card from many of the providers there.

I know everyone has their own experiences, but I just cannot speak highly enough about the staff here. Both emergency staff, and regular day time staff, especially Dr. Patty Niehm. My dogs mean the world to me, currently I drive 40 minutes to our vet with more than 10 options closer, just because I'm picky about their care. Was referred here in an emergency situation to avoid the exorbitant fees and guaranteed hospitalization at the U of I. The emergency visit lasted awhile and was quite expensive, but I know for a fact if we had utilized the other emergency option we would have spent 2x the time waiting and probably 4x the money in the end, and I would bet all of that money that we would have received worse care and likely had my dog hospitalized through the holiday. Nothing against the U

TLDR: 1 star due to the necessary medication being given only in the form of incredibly overpriced junk food, pain medication not being offered during the entire visit to a cat that was literally passing a bladder stone (we had to pay for it first at the very end of the visit, then give it to him ourselves), 'fluid under the skin' being charged for no reason after not being explained at all (it's IV fluid - talk like a normal human being, people! and no, you shouldn't be squeezing the IV bag with all of your strength!), and the doctor telling us that an obligate carnivore should be eating grains. We paid over $600 to find out that we needed Potassium Citrate supplementation, and pain medication could have been supplied by our normal vet. Oh, and DVM Kim Metz said his urethra wasn't obstruc

1 star. I took my dog in for what turned out to be an upset stomach and ended up with a completely wrong diagnosis and an outrageous bill. They attempted to pressure me into an $8,000 surgery that my dog did not need. Prices were not disclosed upfront. After showing me estimated costs for treatment options, they casually added that “just being seen by the vet today” was $1,500—during normal business hours, not an emergency visit. They performed an X-ray, said they weren’t sure what they were looking at, and then sent it out “to an expert,” never mentioning the additional cost. The “expert” also couldn’t tell if anything was wrong, so now I had two professionals who were both unable to diagnose the issue but still wanted to be paid. They kept my dog for fluids and a follow-up X-ray. After

They were all so kind when I had to make the incredibly difficult decision to euthanize my Chihuahua recently. The doctor talked me through everything and that helped me realize that it was the best thing for him. They let me spend as much time as I wanted with him. I really appreciate everything they did for both of us!
