Having surveyed a few shops and offices around the midtown area, we came away feeling a bit of an off “used car salesman” and sleazy rip you off vibe. But Zak from Galerie Shebab truly helped curate the perfect antique piece for our home while delivering a very helpful, communicative and thoughtful effort in assisting us. The office and show room is organized and makes for a wonderful experience. The communication was top notch as Zak answered many questions, going above and beyond and providing valuable input and sending numerous samples. Highly recommend for anyone looking for the perfect rug.

The best place in NYC to find antique and vintage rugs. My girlfriend and I recently purchased our living room rug from Galerie Shabab. We worked with Zack, who was incredibly helpful. We showed him a photo of something we were using as inspiration, and Zack was able to work through their inventory to find a piece that fit our exact needs - price, size, and character. If you are looking for a quality, one of a kind rug, this is the first place I would go.

All hand-woven, Shabab offers a vast selection of sizes, colors, prices, designs, alongside what is clearly a comprehensive knowledge of antique rugs. The biggest problem I had was holding myself back from buying more than one rug! What I appreciated more than anything was the presence of Zack, who from the beginning was welcoming, helpful, and ever responsive to all the many questions and concerns. My feeling is that in New York City, one can buy a rug many places, but what matters to me is finding a place where the provenance of the rug is known (if possible) and valued, and also, a place where the people selling the rugs really know and appreciate these antiques. The experience of visiting Galerie Shabab was second to none. A beautifully situated and private gallery on the 6th floor of the building made for a one of a kind and private viewing experience. The only thing better than the beautiful urban space was the collection of Persian carpets. Their expert team helped me identify the perfect rugs for my project, expertly matching our style preferences and helping us create a one of a kind staircase in our home.
