The Friends of Attleboro Animal Shelter is one of the best in the state or anywhere in my opinion. Perhaps they don't pick up the phone because they are helping animals not only in their care, but those who are in need outside of the shelter. Every volunteer and employee (only 1 full-time) cares deeply about the animals and show them more love than many have ever known. The volunteers' time at the shelter is primarily spent walking, playing, cleaning, administering medications, feeding and doing anything little other thing their four-legged guests need. Each and every kennel has a cozy bed, blanket (when needed) and toys for these abandoned, mistreated and/or sick animals on the mend. During the cold winters in the older shelter, the dogs had winter coats and extra blankets. The volunte
This place is great for general pet issues. The staff are all super friendly. The only complaint I have is that they don't seem to have the facilities in place for some of the more advanced issues a couple of my pets had recently and I had to go somewhere else, much further away and more expensive.
The staff seems to care for the animals in their charge and seems to know what they're doing. But don't expect a consistent message or even communication from the volunteers. When we filled out our application and were approved, we were told that having a preschooler would not be a problem because he has grown up with cats and he was well-behaved when they let cats out of their kennels. After we were approved, we asked if there were any cats available for adoption. We were told yes and invited to come back to the shelter. When we got there, the volunteer informed us that the cats were not in fact ready, but they should be in about a week. We went back today only for a third volunteer to tell us that the cats would not be ready "for a long time." We left again with our hopes dashed. Als
Staff was amazing. Went to look at a specific dog and after talking and meeting they definitely look out for the best interests in the animals for the long run. The two volunteers in the cat part were amazing and spent time telling my children all about each cat and letting them play.
Very helpful. I've only had to deal with Carol and Butch because our family dog kept getting loose so unfortunately we became aquainted with Animal Control until we figured out the tips and tricks of our dogs runner. We became new dog and house owners in the same year so it was a little tricky getting the kinks out. They helped us with food for the dog as well as a outside shelter for our dog. You guys are wonderful!
