*PHOTOS ARE NOT ANIMALS FROM THIS SHELTER. My experience at Famous Fido Animal Rescue on October 8, 2025 was extremely upsetting, and I want to share it so others know what to expect. I called the rescue around 4 PM and spoke with Gloria, who was friendly and told me they had many cats and kittens available. She said I could come in anytime before 8 PM to meet them, so my partner and I arrived about 15 minutes later. The moment we walked in, we were hit with one of the strongest, foulest smells I’ve ever experienced—far beyond normal animal odors. There were visible puddles of pee and poop near the entrance and in several enclosures. The space felt cramped, cluttered, and unclean, and many of the cats were sneezing and coughing, which was heartbreaking to see. As soon as the door chimed

From the outside, this doesn’t look like a shelter, but inside is packed full of cats and dogs waiting to be loved! The volunteers were SO NICE and helpful! I’m a cat lover so I immediately asked how to volunteer! They really need the help, so many people have surrendered their animals it’s very sad. We can do better!! I bought some things from their storefront to help too. PLEASE help them when you can! All the animals deserve a loving home. ❤️

I drove from Indiana on a SUNDAY- yes they were there on a Sunday- to adopt a dog I fell in love with on FB. I was a little concerned with the one star reviews and after meeting Gloria and the volunteers I have to say to all of the one star reviewers…you should ALL be ashamed of yourselves. Gloria is an elderly woman in declining health who has devoted her entire life to save these animals that others have discarded like trash. I cannot imagine the depth of heartbreak she has endured seeing the abuse and neglect of these angels. Shame on every one of you. If you think that you can do a better job, please…spend your last dime, live in constant financial struggle and devote your lives to open a rescue. God only knows rescues are full all over the country. You will never be rich, stress free

The loveliest cat shelter. Gloria and the team clearly care about their mission, and go above and beyond for the cats. You can tell they vet (pun not intended) adopters well, and take excellent care of the cats. We attended one of their events, and they had clearly put a lot of effort into it, and had a lot of thoughtful activities and decor. We would love to adopt from Famous Fido in future

Well I adopted a very friendly cat 1 yr old orange female Luca I’m in. Love already , Gloria met me when I walked in and she did give a extensive interview, because sadly if these animals gets in the wrong hands sometimes their just put out so Gloria has seen her share of these cats being mistreated since she’s been doing this for close to 50 years, I appreciate the extensive info she wants on people for a lot come back, it’s really sad but she’s got her heart in the right place , also. Theirs not a lot of people that live and breathe this job she has and. Her husband was very nice also the other workers were all doing something and very friendly. So I’m glad we have people like Gloria and. Her husband , there’s a lot of cats that. Need homes, so thank. You famous Fido rescue!
