Elmbrook Humane Society

I had absolutely the worst experience with this Humane Society they failed to disclose very important information about the dog that we adopted like bolting as well as incontinent as well as a half an inch sister tumor next to her spayed incision line that currently has ruptured then did absolutely nothing to try to help our dog who has a severe infection now! If I didn’t love this dog already I would be dropping her off at their doorstep and now I feel trapped after spending over $1300 on medication and a vet bill and we’ve only had her for five weeks!

i’ve had my Tito (previously Igor) since 6/4/25 and since then i’ve noticed that Tito has tummy sensitivity issues that weren’t presented to me upon adoption which i blamed to be the thought that they can’t accommodate all the cats diets given how many they had at the shelter at the time. (many older and many kittens) Given this is my only concern in 3-4 months i am relatively pleased with Elmbrook and their adoption process. i went in and was able to look around, i found my tito and booked a time to meet him. after that i’ve had my best friend since

I saw this beauty Shih Tzu boy online and filled out the paperwork to go see him. Went same day and everything went smooth. When they brought him out, he smelled horrible. He was so matted it felt like a wool coat was around his body and you could not feel his skin. You could tell he has been sitting in pee and feces. They would only let me foster to adopt which I was fine with. But sending a dog out in that condition is unacceptable. They make you sign paperwork saying not to groom them but made an acception since he was so gross. Got him home and noticed he wouldn’t eat. I had to shave all of his fur off his body because there was no way to properly wash him. After that, I discovered he is skin and bones. Spine sticking out butt bones and ribs. That’s all he was. THEY SAID THEY DIDN’T K

On Dec 4th, a year ago, I adopted this beautiful girl from Elmbrook HS. I called her Maui. She and her sister princess, Noodle, have been gracing ♥️ (and rearranging! 😏) my house since then... I am so grateful to Elmbrook and fosterer Sue for giving her to me. She demands belly rubs and talks almost constantly in her soft voice. I love that the darkness in my house has yellow eyes... 😏

We adopted our ACD from EBHS back in January and he has been nothing but great. The staff were very kind and helpful throughout the adoption process. Even after adopting him, they were willing to discuss some questions and concerns we had about our pup, which was greatly appreciated. I can tell staff took good care of my Churro when he was there. We would definitely recommend adopting from EBHS!
