Elizabethton-Carter County Animal Shelter

Clean. There seems to be a head spinning pace here but they know their roles and are helpful! Busy place with at least (in July 2025) 70 dogs and over 100 cats to choose. Mind-blowing is the knowledge the staff (and some of the volunteers I understand who were there) have about the dogs. When I was there I saw them training dogs in the backyard. I mean they really care that the animals are very ready for a family which is pretty mind-blowing. And maybe it's difficult to all of these type of facilities but you get spaying and neutering with your animal as well as up to date shots. I do wish they had more/longer weekend hours and some evening hours. We were told it's a county budget thing (meaning the county doesn't want to cover the expenses). I just want to say they care about all the animals that enter there. It is very clean and didn’t smell like a shelter, the staff is great very caring people. Stacy is a great asset to the shelter, she has a heart of gold. Thank you for letting me get Charlie back home where he belongs. Aka/ Buddy Boy. I adopted my cat about a week ago now! Amazing place with a phenomenal staff! ( Ms Mia is absolutely awesome! ) They genuinely Care about all of the animals there! & it’s clear to see that they all Truly Love their job! & they all know what they’re doing! 🫶

I have adopted from here the last few years and I just wanted to say this is an amazing place. I adopted 2 dogs over a few years and they are happy and healthy. One is now a service dog and the other is her own boss😁 I love them both so much.

When I asked if there was any dogs around 30 lbs the woman told me there was 2 dogs and she said we have elmo that was around 35 lbs and we have stormy around 30lbs and we got to meet elmo first he was very sweet and loving little boy but then we meet stormy and my little boy loved her so we adopted stormy that day and she loves my family she fits perfectly with the family thank you elizabethton carter county animal shelter for being so kind and letting me adopt stormy.
