DLC Dog Training

I’ll start by saying that I’m writing this review with much positivity and optimism in mind. I say that because I feel that I’ve finally found “trainers” (Donnie and his wife Kasey work as a team) that not only I trust to help with training my dog but that can “train” me also. In the past throughout numerous calls to trainers I’ve struggled to talk to folks that I feel are truly experts in their field and it did not take long for me to realize that these folks are truly that - experienced EXPERTS in the art of all types of training. That statement goes two ways. There are places you can send your dog to board and train and there are places that can carefully with you, instruct you how to train your dog. Donnie and Kasey are wonderful trainers. They are friendly, patient and have a wealth of information they are happy to share. They did a thorough evaluation of our eight month old dog Shady and of us, asking many questions and observing Shady to find out what we wanted from the training. They kept Shady for eight weeks and taught him to place, heel, sit, down, stay, come and ignore distractions. They kept us updated with videos of the training. The videos also provide a reference as we continue to train Shady. They provided training lessons for my wife and I so we could properly continue to train Shady after we brought him home. Without question this is the place to go if you want to have a well-trained dog and get excellent training for yourself. There are many dog trainers that can train dogs but few that can help owners translate that training in the home environment. We have a challenging breed but are able to do so much with our dog and have loads of fun and adventures!

We were really struggling with our puppy, Calcifer, who has bad fear based reactivity and has a lot of anxiety (especially around new people and other dogs). We did the puppy board and train for two months. Though we missed our boy, he came back so improved!! The training was extremely effective, and we learned that Calcifer needs to have a job to reduce his anxiety. We have learned so much through this training and have also used what we have learned on our other dog. We highly recommend Citron K9!!!! Calcifer is also so much more confident and eager to learn new tricks. We can actually take him places without him freezing in anxiety.

I took my 4 year old rescue pitbull mix to them as a last resort before having to rehome him. He went through their 6 week board and train program and came back to me as a completely new dog. Now he is able to be a normal dog because he is no longer riddled with anxiety and he can now understand commands. I love that they train the dogs from their own home, it made me feel much better about leaving my dog with them. I also love that if you choose a board and train program they include lessons to show you how enforce the training at home. They are the best trainers out there.
