Dark Horse Dogs is an incredibly rescue! Two years ago I started working with DHD as a first time foster parent- Dayna and her team are dedicated to foster and adoption success. They are supportive, responsive, and communicative. I’ve fostered both long-term and short-term dogs and highly recommend DHD to anyone looking to foster or adopt!

I have fostered with DHD for nearly three years. Not only have I known incredible dogs, but I’ve met amazing people. This rescue is honest and hardworking. They face the reality everyday that municipal shelters are having to euthanize for space. Instead of only helping the small or young dogs like some rescues do, DHD truly cares for the underdogs. No one batted an eye when I asked to pull Trixie, a senior dog who had ended up at the shelter multiple times as a stray. I’m proud to represent a rescue that makes a difference for Chicago’s pets. All supplies, medical stuff and training are covered for fosters and they even help find vacation fosters if we go out of town. You won’t find a Goldendoodle here but they care deeply about homeless animals and finding them the right adopter.

First time fostering with them. They do an amazing job constantly pulling dogs from CACC. They found Louie for me. He is literally the best dog in the world and an instant foster fail. I wake up every morning and smile because my puppy is ALWAYS happy. I am thankful every day I get to spend with him. Don’t shop! There are SO many amazing dogs waiting for a home. Dark Horse Dogs is such a gift. Their mission to rescue primarily bully breeds from the city shelter is so, so important. My wife and I adopted our girl Raven last January after following her story on social media for about a year, and we're currently fostering-to-adopt another little pittie potato. DHD is honest, hilarious, and no nonsense about their dogs, which I really appreciate. Amazing organization—highly, highly recommend adopting or fostering through them.

I'm a current foster for Dark Horse. I was referred to them through a friend who fosters for them as well. I worked with one other rescue before. Both have been great experiences! But of course, everyone does things differently and what I love about Dark Horse is their honesty, knowledge and good communication. They consistently show up for the underdog when no one else is there... There's something to be said about that! I love fostering for them!
