City of Greenbelt Animal Shelter

I found my baby, my new love here on Saturday!! Uno, who is said to be a mastiff mix, was a big mouth pup in a kennel dying to get out so after spending time with another dog in the play area, I opted to take Uno out & as I watched him immediately walk over to my 13y/o daughter I knew he was the one. The animal control officer was very helpful, she gave me his background which really made me want to bring him to his forever home. So many people pass up shelters & mutts, I used to be one, but this was the best decision I've made in years. Check out their kittens too, they're adorbs!! (The white dog is Boris, he's a gentle giant & 4yrs old, he's avail too) LOOK AT THESE PIC AND TELL ME HE'S NOT A KEEPER!!!!!

I went searching for a cat in December 2020. My kitty was the first on my list to visit, and he was also my last. I didn’t want to see any other cat after meeting him! I wanted to adopt him right away. Nelly was so kind and gave me everything I needed to take him home. 2 years later, I’m watching my sweet boy look out the window and thanking God, Nelly, and this tiny but mighty shelter for giving me my kitty cat. Thanks for everything!! 😁

I was trying to adopt a cat from there, but I was informed that I had to fill out an application first and list references. Then once they finish the reference check (which will take about a week and a half), that's when they will schedule an appointment. I never received a call back from them. I went to another shelter and was able to get this handsome sweet orange tabby in 3 days.

Small shelter that only takes in animals from Greenbelt MD (but anyone can adopt). Very caring staff and volunteers look after the wellbeing of the animals there.

This is hands down the best animal shelter in the area. The process for adoption is easy yet thorough, and you can tell the people running this place care as much about the animals as they do in where they place them. We’ve adopted two cats from them since 2019, with the most recent, Daphne (now Phoebe), fitting in just fine with Pipe (now Deimos). Before we got there, the shelter was great with answering all our questions and addressing any concerns in order to help us guarantee that happy outcome.
