Cedarcrest Farm & Equine Clinic: Hicks Steve DVM

I just called hoping to leave a message but to my surprise, the phone was answered. I wanted to know if he did mobile services or worked on goats (see below) Karen Tustison 3 years ago Cedarcrest Farm & Equine Clinic, Dr. Steve Hicks is the best veterinarian for horses. I'm not sure if he still does mobile veterinarian appointments or services for goats. I recommend call him. If he can't help you, he may be able to refer you to someone who can help you. Dr. Hicks was VERY RUDE stating "1st of all, we've never been mobile and second of all, we only see horses". Before I could apologize or ask if he could refer someone, he hung up on me. It's unfortunate because we also have a horse that needs a local vet. Based on his phone etiquette, it will NOT be Dr. Hicks.

I take all my horses here, more than fair pricing, he teaches as he goes and a really personable gentleman. Truly has a kind heart and will tell you exactly what’s going on and what he can do to fix it. I will always come here before I go anywhere else.

Took my aged gelding to Steve to put him down, he had RAO and medication was no longer effective. Paid for euthanasia and left because I had owned and raised the horse from a weakling and was too painful to watch. I knew Steve for years and trusted him. Came back months later to find my horse alive at the clinic extremely emaciated, hooves split and extremely long and suffering from chronic coughing and discomfort from RAO. Steve told me he used him to tease his mares so he could study them and was going to euthanize him soon, then changed his story another time or two. The whole thing is just unbelievable. Needless to say - I would not recommend this guy.

Dr. Hicks is a no-nonsense type of vet. He gets to the root of the problem and listens to the animal's owner. He teaches valuable information if you're of a mind that you don't know it all. Prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly and very accomodating. Will work you in to be seen even when they're busy.

They were kind enough to wait on us to come get a test done for one of our horses. They are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend using them for your equine vet needs!
