Brandywine Valley SPCA, Delaware - Copeland Center for Animal Welfare

Do not bring lost cats here. I brought a missing cat here to check if they were microchipped. After scanning the microchip, instead of letting us take the cat to its owner they forcibly took the cat from us and threatened to call the police on us if we tried to return the cat to the owner. I was then forced give them my ID and to sign that the Copeland center now owned the cat, I would get no updates on if they got to their owner and that while it was there they could euthanize it. Very shady behavior. Supposedly (dispute being told I would not get any updates) if the owner didn't pick it up I could pay to adopt it from them for 500 dollars. The same cat that I brought to them, and they forced me to turn over! Would have never brought them here if I knew this would happen. The whole thing

They were very friendly and accommodating. All of the cats and dogs looked like they were very well taken care of. I took a dog out for the day and they gave me everything I would need. I had her overnight 2 nights before I decided my family would adopt her. They called and took care of everything over the phone and emailed her records to me. It was a very nice experience.

Probably one of the best SPCAs I’ve ever visited! The facility is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, and the staff are beyond attentive. It’s clear how deeply they care not only for the animals but also for the families looking to adopt. Every time we’ve stopped by, we’ve been greeted with kindness. The staff know each animal’s personality and backstory, which truly shows the level of care they provide. We’ve adopted two kitties from this SPCA and both experiences—from the adoption process to the thoughtful post-adoption check-ins—have been wonderful. They even called us to see how our new cat was settling in. I’ve been recommending this SPCA to everyone I know because of how incredible both the people and the place are. Absolutely a 10/10!

Everyone is very kind and compassionate. They were very gentle with all my three dogs of different ages and sizes. Also they are very understanding and flexible even though it was kind of crazy in there when I was there. So I recommend them highly.

Love them! If your ever having problems feeding your pets ... just visit their food pantry. They also had a bunch...a bunch of free toys and things that have been donated for our fur babies in need! I know my dog sure does love her new bed and tennis balls!
