Blackhawk Veterinary Hospital

Found this veterinary by chance due to COVID-19. Our previous veterinary hospital was booked out for almost 3 weeks, unless I wanted to pay for urgent care rates. Blackhawk Veterinary Hospital had an appointment available for us 2 days after I called. This place is small. Two exam rooms. We have been here twice in June. Staff is friendly and accommodating. They provide you with costs before they do anything. They also help prioritize what treatments are necessary (must dos) when you may get overwhelmed and cannot make a decision. Their fees are reasonable. Dr Nick took the time to explain what my dog had in person and via email. We will be back since my old girl has been diagnosed with chronic heart issues. You are able to take your pet prescription (written Rx) to be fulfilled at Costc

The entire staff are very caring with all their patients but really go above and beyond for dogs & cats. Dr. Nick and Dr. Jones has a true and genuine love of animals, doctors has and will often go above and beyond the call of duty. Hands down "SUPER BEST Veterinarian EVER and doctors training skills are impeccable.!" DOCTORS are amazing with animals. They are truly care about the animals and their owners. Highly recommend!!

Updated Review 2023: It's been 8 years, I've rescued 3 pets and I've moved out of the state and back again, and I am still reliant upon Dr. Nick and his expertise. He is still, hands down, the best vet around. He is knowledgeable, professional and cares deeply about his patients. The best part is he is transparent about diagnosis, the methods of correction and what is actually needed to help your baby - he runs his practice on honesty and true care. I will always be a repeat patient of Dr. Nick, and I have the utmost trust in him to care for my girl like she was his own. Awesome 😊 only came here because it was on my insurance. But boy am I glad it was. They are very friendly and thorough and great with my dog. I have a geriatric dog with quite a few problems. They really take their time to make sure he's comfortable.

She immediately realized the positive vibe from all as soon as we walked in for our first visit. No shaking, no anxiety but calm, curious and even tail wiggling!
