Dr. Ron Carsten and his staff decided that they did not want to treat my cute little maltese that has bladder cancer. They unprofessionally claimed that due to me crying and being upset over my dog dying, that they would not treat my dog's cancer. I found the staff to be incredibly insensitive in measuring my behavior. I was and am still very upset about the diagnosis. I came to this office on a recommendation and was looking forward to Dr. Carsten's abilities to help my dog. My Boxer was a current patient seen within the year. I called for an appointment because I was told she had cancer and I needed Dr. Carson to help with holistic choices. The secretary gave me an appointment more than a month out. I told her my dog only had 4 weeks to live and I needed an immediate appointment. I was not given any preference. I called back a week later just to talk to the doctor and to see if he had any ideas. The secretary said I had to come in for a check up. I told her my dog already had one in the last week because I couldn’t wait 5 weeks for the appointment to see Dr Carson. This secretary could not understand the urgency. This is a great option for most cat and dog owners, as the staff and vet are very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and won't try to over-sell you something you don't kneed. They have a charming facility that has plenty of room and a yard your animal can run around a bit if they aren't a waiting room type of pet. Prices are reasonable and they have everything you need in stock, so you walk out with what you need to keep your pet healthy. We are on our 2nd dog going to Birch Tree and feel like I am going to a quality country vet every time.
