Dawn has been absolutely amazing to work with. She has been patient, knowledgeable, and accommodating to our schedule. After the starting consultation, we were provided with so many resources on how to handle our fear aggressive dog. We have been doing the mini sessions for a few months, and seeing my dog grow in confidence has been amazing. Dawn knows the balance in keeping your dog safe, managing their stress, but being able to slowly push them into new scenarios to build their confidence. I never thought I would be able to walk my dog downtown without fear, but our dog has been showing amazing improvements with each mini session.

Dawn visited our home for an initial consultation, spending 90 minutes with us and our puppy. The one on time was so valuable! Dawn left us with tons of resources, printouts and new training tips to help our little guy become a well behaved and well adjusted dog. He had a HUGE nap after her visit. A main goal for us was to decrease friction in the home by teaching the puppy not to chase our cat or be too rough with our older dog. In less than 24 hours, he’s respecting boundaries of both of them. We look forward to Dawn’s next visit where we will practice puppy ‘door manners’.

3 year old female Bassett Hound. We needed help with leash aggression toward other dogs, controlling her barking, following commands (more than when she felt like it), jumping on grandkids, and waiting at door when people visit. All was addressed, as owners we were advised and shown what to do, and how to do it. Harlee Rose is so much better, we are continuing the training guidance with great results. I highly recommend and am so glad I called. We had seven 30 min outdoor sessions, walking with trainers dogs, going downtown, and going to dog park, interacting with children, and at Tietan Park.

Dawn Barer came to our home for a 90 minute initial consultation with us and our 5 month old puppy. She illustrated techniques for training on many things (leave it, leash walking, go to mat, sit, relax, for example), had us use those techniques, and then talked us through some others (emergency recall, greeting people). She also helped us prioritize what behaviors to work on first for our particular pup, and left us with a lot of material to help us review the mounds of information from the session. It was illuminating (magic!) to observe our pup's responses to her skillful prompts. As you might imagine, she was also training us! We plan to undertake some 30 minute follow up sessions.

Barer Pet Behavior is a pack saver and Dawn Barer is remarkable! When our newly adopted pup was being aggressive with our older female, we thought we'd have to return him. But Dawn quickly assessed our situation and helped us develop a training plan to help our pack to accept each other and get along. Two months later and we have no aggression and the two are even able to play together ❤. I can't imagine where we'd be without Barer's guidance. Thank you!
