AWSOM Animal Shelter

Our 15 year old Cavipoo went missing on a Friday evening and I called the shelter the next morning to leave a description of our dog and my contact number in case someone turned him in. Shortly after my call Awsom called and said they had him! A woman (angel) had picked him up and drove him to the shelter. We drove the 35 minutes to the shelter and we have been reunited! The Awsom personnel were wonderful! Truly a miracle especially since our dog didn’t have his id collar on him and is not chipped. Thank you to the woman who initially found him and the shelter! We will be sending a donation to Awsom

The volunteers are wonderful. I adopted a six month old cat last January. She has been back and forth to the vet the entire time. She passed away from FIP. I was unable to get her treated in time, because vets for some asinine reason, don't know what it is. Upon looking at her medical records, it was shown she had reoccurring infections, and they put her up for adoption anyway. FIP is treatable, but they were more concerned about getting her out of the shelter A caring shelter would have ensured good health, awsom did not. She passed away yesterday. We had her for a year. I would not adopt from here again. My kids and I are devastated.

Awsom has wonderful volunteers. I have found them to be friendly and very pet focused. The application process went smoothly. I was pre-approved. They contacted me with the great news and I went to visit the shelter, and then at a Pet Smart event. There were a lot more adorable cats at the in store event, but it was loud and stressful for the kittens. The staff provided a safe place to hold them and they did a great job of supervision.

I rescued a dog from here in July 2025, they I was advised to as having a hard time adjusting and was skiddish. However after the meet and greet with my 2 other pups, they got along and I was willing to give her a new loving home despite her challenges in her past. I paid the rescue fee and took her home, unfortunately as soon as we got home and getting her out of the car she was frightened by road construction on our street and took off leashed, dragging me through my fenced in yard and got away from me, hopped the fence and escaped. I instantly went after her, as well as a town employee who saw it happen, whom I provided my number to after searching for her for awhile without luck. Every employee we spoke with was friendly, patient and connected to the animals. We adopted our new boy Earl today. He was such a good boy getting home and did his business outside on his walk when we arrived. He romped excitedly for 3 hours...now comfortably napping on his new living room floor. Thank you all for your care and attention to finding good homes for these loveable animals! Earl says thank you too!
