The staff are dedicated, the place is well maintained, and the animals are treated with so much kindness. A truly heartwarming experience — they’re making a real difference. 🐾

I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful our visit to the old "Popcorn Zoo" was. We saw lions, tigers and bears (oh-my)... As well as donkeys, goats, monkeys, peacocks, reptiles and more! We paid $10/adult and $5/child. Free parking and lots of natural pine barrens beautiful too!

The management is unimpressive. Successful adoptions might happen more often, avoiding unnecessary euthanasia of overcrowded cat populations, IF the management connected better with the public. There’s a disconnect between AHS and the public that so many people have noticed… Over the years, the ‘special feeling’ at AHS in Forked River has changed greatly… it’s not the same place— and it’s not a ‘good vibe’ anymore. It’s starting give off a ‘business’ atmosphere, without the ‘human and humane warmth’ it used to have. I regret it… I am not happy to criticize AHS…I was a long, long time supporter… back, when AHS was truly a stand-out mission that served both animals and people— it was a shining star that glowed with hope and love… For animals… and people. Easy to find through google maps. This place parking and disabled parking spaces. This place can get busy on weekends and parking spaces can fill up because of the zoo on this property. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable and friendly. Be careful driving here because the peacocks are free roaming around this property.
