Our lovely Pippy is from AHS - they do a fabulous job! My Afghan Hound had lost his best friend, and so I went to meet Pippy and called my spouse to come meet her, and Bob’s your uncle! The staff and volunteers are wonderful. The dogs are walked outside the shelter grounds regularly. Pippy has been such an irreplaceable addition to our family!
Prematurely spaying or neutering pups, the staff is quick to get you out the door as if you're in their way by being there, the guy that brought the puppy in for the greet and meet, told her they wont miss her or her siblings if they get adopted out, and the puppy was underweight. This experience alone makes me trust "humane" societies even less. For someone thats had dogs her own life, and knows how to work with all animals, its making me regret going here and coming home with a pet. She's sweet, and super smart but im regretting it...
I cannot say enough good things about the Anitetam Humane Society. Our experience with the recent adoption of our cat was seamless. The volunteer who assisted us in the process was so helpful. I was very impressed with the information provided in her medical record such as the dates her vaccinations and spaying, microchip registration etc. My veterinarian was also impressed by the amount of information provided. My father adopted from the ATHS earlier this year and he was also impressed. I highly recommend. Their commitment to caring for homeless animals is evident.
This shelter is great! I adopted a four month old kitten and he’s been very well cared for. He’s a little shy but incredibly friendly once he feels safe. He even smells like he was shampooed. I would recommend Antietam Humane Society to anyone looking for a pet. All of the animals were seeking human attention, were clean, and appeared healthy. The hard part is leaving behind the ones you can’t adopt.
I took my cat to get neutered and he came back extremely sick and it spread to my other cats. They're all finally starting to feel better but, I was scared they were going to die. The Vet told me that their sanitary practices usually aren't up to snuff because volunteers don't bleach/sanitized surfaces and floors well enough. Take that how you will, but be careful if you take your kitties there. It was really scary.
