I recently adopted my cat Sakinah (formerly known as Iris) from AWLA a little more than a week ago. The adoption process was super easy and the staff was very helpful and efficient. I encourage more people to adopt from AWLA because Sakinah and I are an excellent match. Thanks again!

I adopted a kitten this week (formerly known as Merlin, now named Julius Pugsley), and he is slowly revealing more personality and getting more comfortable in his new space! He is so so loved in his new home and his brother Bloom cannot wait to play with his new sibling. Thank you AWLA for making the adoption process so easy!

I adopted Namore on Friday! He settled into his new home seamlessly! I had to change his name to Nemo because of how brave and fearless he was, like Captain Nemo for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The staff at AWLA were so helpful and had a wealth of expert knowledge. Thank you Alexandria AWLA for my new best friend!

My wife and I were looking to adapt a dog from this location however upon entering the staff was very rude and condescending. Especially the women at the front desk and gentleman with the tattoo sleeve of dogs. We asked if we can see any dogs so they give us a tablet to look through and choose a dog to meet, however every dog we chose apparently was unavailable and we chose 4 to look at. What a waste of time and lack of customer service, next time don’t waste our damn time and just say we can’t see any dogs instead of having us look through a tablet and you knowing they are unavailable. Don’t waste your time here. Go to the one in Arlington instead people there are nicer and actually let you see the dog and don’t give you an attitude about it.

I love volunteering at AWLA! It is so evident how much this organization truly cares about all animals from being so well-organized, having endless volunteer opportunities and thorough trainings, and how they care for each and every animal. It is always a highlight of my week coming here to volunteer.
