Animal General

We have been bringing our three rescue cats to Animal General since 2022, and we could not be happier with the excellent veterinary care they receive and the considerate way we are treated as pet parents. Scheduling appointments is easy by phone or email, and the front desk team is always friendly, helpful, and efficient. The veterinarians, nurses, and technicians are consistently welcoming, professional, and genuinely kind. Our cats have had a number of health concerns over the years—from ear irritations to GI disturbances and everything in between—and the team at Animal General has always resolved the issues thoughtfully and with real compassion. Dr Shea is simply unmatched. We have been patients for almost 15 years, and her expertise and thoroughness is only matched by her kindness, warmth and patience. She cares so deeply about every one of her patients, takes the time to answer every question and never makes us feel rushed. When we were out of state during Covid and couldn’t see her, she still took the time to provide her guidance virtually and only thanks to her recommendations were we able to get more time with our boy before he passed. I cannot recommend her enough and it would be impossible to find someone that would take better care of your beloved pets.

I needed to establish a new vet and came across Animal General. The great reviews are true - my first experience here was nothing short of positive. Dr Geer has the best bedside manner and you can clearly tell she really cares for each pet that comes in. She spent time answering my questions and did not push any unnecessary procedures/testing. Animal General is lovely, caring, expert veterinary practice on the Upper West Side. Dr. Chiverton is a caring and attentive veterinarian, attending to Layla's anxiety and my concerns about her wellness. We had a wonderful check in for Layla's 14th birthday. All is well, and though we love Dr. Chiverton, we hope not to see her soon. :-)

Animal General is truly the best vet in NYC - I don’t live local and I will always travel to the UWS to work with only them! Not only is every member of the staff welcoming, friendly and kind, but I know when I bring my dog in she is taken care of in the highest standard! My dog literally loves going to see Dr. Shea! Highly recommend and wouldn’t go anywhere else!!!
