I recently stopped by Almost Home Adoptions in Westminster after seeing a sign that they were in need of some basic supplies like paper plate and soap. While I did not adopt during this visit, I wanted to drop off a donation and see their operation firsthand. As someone who serves on the board of a cat rescue, I was truly impressed. The volunteers were friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. They came to the door quickly, invited me in, and were more than happy to walk me through the facility and share about the cats in their care. Everything was clean, organized, and clearly well maintained. The cats had plenty of space, soft blankets, enrichment, and multiple areas to hide, rest, roam, and play. It was evident that thoughtful care goes into both their physical and emotional

I really really wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and wanted to not trust the reviews, but unfortunately they are true. We had put in an application on the 22nd of December for a pair of kittens(originally wanted one but whatever we had plenty of space and love to give that another wouldn’t be an issue at all) And only just heard back today. We get a thorough application process, but this felt almost excessive. We were supposed to hear back from them 24-48 hrs but I had to show up in person to check on the status only then did I get a scheduled email. Not just that but when we went in the pair of kittens were being held with 2 other kittens that would attack them while eating/ interacting with us or just walking by. This is why we wanted to take them home so quickly. Not just that

My wife and I recently adopted two lovely kittens from Almost Home Adoptions. Li'l CiCi and Mustang Sally. Our experience with the staff was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful, And the environment was clean and welcoming. We never felt rushed and we're able to spend ample time with the all the kitties until CiCi and Sally decided to choose us by hopping on our laps and purring endlessly. We filled out the application form at the facility and scheduled our virtual home visit for a few days later. The virtual home visit identified a safety issue that we immediately rectified, and we were happily granted the adoption. While some Google reviewers may have found the process arduous, we found it to be thorough and fair, knowing full well that all of Almost Home's policies are intended to e

I really wanted to have a great experience with Almost Home Adoptions because I truly admire the work they do, especially providing a safe sanctuary for senior cats. Their setup is lovely, and the volunteers I met were kind, welcoming, and clearly care deeply about the animals. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I visited in person, spent time with a kitten, submitted an application, and was told I would hear back within a couple of business days. After not hearing anything, I called and left voicemails and also sent an email. It has now been a month with no response, and the kitten I applied for is still listed as available. It’s disheartening to think about how many cats could potentially be in loving homes if communication and administrative follow-up were more consistent

It’s easier to adopt a human child. I fully support an adoption center that is picky about who they send their animals home to. No one wants to rescue an animal, invest in medical treatments and care, then send them off to a home that will re-traumatize them. This is why I wanted to adopt from this shelter to begin with. Unfortunately this place is a joke. Half the staff is half nice, the other half can’t be bothered to smile or pick up a litter scoop without rolling their eyes. I felt judged from the moment I walked in, to the moment I hung up on that god awful “home visit” video call. What a pretentious woman. My partner and I have had cats all our lives, live in a large clean home, and spend countless hours and money making sure our current cat is happy, healthy, and safe. We were tex
