Adopting from the humane society was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am with my boy, Mac (formerly known as Zeb). When my daughter and I first came in to meet him, he was so scared—he peed and hid under the couch almost the entire time. But something in me knew he was worth the chance. Now, just a little over two weeks later, it’s as if he’s always been a part of our family. He’s wonderful with my kids, gets along with our other pets, and has become the absolute life of the house. Please, if you’re considering getting a pet—take a chance on these sweet babies. You might just find your best friend waiting for you. Adopt! ❤️🐾

they are overcrowded, understaffed, probably underfunded, but they do the best they can... They have a " foster to adopt" program that lets people keep a dog for 2 weeks to see if it will be a good fit before they commit. They also take in strays that animal control pick up and hold them until the owners show up to claim them. See photos below of my beautiful girl who was there for a year....

My husband and I adopted a kitten from here. The staff and volunteers were nice. However, they are also very disorganized. They mixed up the litters and told us the wrong name for our kitten (this was the name she was microchipped under). The vet had me come in and verify that they had the right kitten, after she was spayed. Then come back the next day to pick her up. This shelter is not very clean. Our vet found that our kitten had hook worms and ear mites, which we had to pay to treat. We are happy to have our kitty as part of the family, but I don't believe we will be adopting from here again.

The mission of the humane society of Albany ga is dedicated to the welfare of animals who can’t speak. With this said from the organization it should never be acceptable for the public to have management say out of her mouth “animals under neglectful situations is life and her break is coming so she has to disconnect the call” You are a disgrace management and karma will come around to get you for your unkind heart and words as if your job is only that, and your evil heart doesn’t belong in a organization that is suppose to be empathetic and supportive.
