Advanced Veterinary Hospital

Hands down the best vet in Sumter in my opinion. Thorough, professional, knowledgeable; excellent “bedside manner”. They obviously love animals and what they do and it shows. Dr. G explains things in an easy to understand manner and will even show pictures from vet care books to help explain what you’re seeing on your pet. They are thoughtful and compassionate and just everything you would want in veterinary care. 10/10? No! 100/100!!! Five stars!!!

Dr. Gerard and Ms. Lois are awesome and went above and beyond to take care of our fur baby. They showed sympathy and compassion, they have provided care for our pets for 22 years wouldn’t think of taking our fur babies anywhere else or entrust their care to anyone else.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Gerard and Lois. I started taking my pets there about 8 years ago. I had a very sick pet and they were the only office that would see her that day. I have been taking my pets there ever since. Dr. G. Is the most thorough vet you can find. I have a sick pet right now, and he and Lois have gone above and beyond to help. My cat is doing much better due to the great care they provide, and I hope they understand how much my pets and I appreciate them! Take your pets there, and you will be glad you did!

This place shows no compassion. I am 17 years old and home alone with my dog while my parents are away for 2 weeks. He had his paw stuck in a bear trap and I explained to the receptionist that his paw was in half. I asked if the bill could be sent to my house so my parents could pay when they returned and she told me no and when I asked if I was out of luck she said “what do you want me to do about it?” My dog is now shaking and bleeding out bc no one is able to offer me a bit of grace. If you’re unable to pay a fee upfront because emergencies are unexpected DO NOT GO HERE.

I must say how amazing Advanced Veterinary Hospital was with treating my cat, Puddin. She was suffering from IBD and pancreatitis, and she was refusing to eat. They admitted her on a Friday afternoon late even though I had never gone there before. They hooked her up to IVs to balance her fluids and did thorough tests to actually find out why she was having the trouble as well as starting her on medicine to help the issues. The previous vet, who had seen her a month earlier, for years had just kept telling me my cat was old and old cats do these things. Puddin is now eating well and no longer in distress. She might be 14 years old, but she deserves her quality of life. My thanks to Advanced Veterinary Hospital for such quality care.
