The animal shelter of Wilkes is sickening!! They euthanized all 3 of my dogs. I was told that they would be adopted out to the community but I was lied to. My dogs sat in a shelter for 1 week and then got euthanized. I got the run around for multiple days from the staff. I even got called “ignorant” from Shannon at the front desk. So professional right? This place is absolutely terrible.

They will euthanize whatever animal they can. Literally took my cat off of my property, claimed he was “feral” and euthanized him. And lied for a week about it until I asked for records. My boy was not feral. He was scared. You’re a stranger coming at him with a net. Of course he was fighting to get away. You have tore so many lives apart. Not even an apology. You will know his name. His name was Miso. He was a year old. He had went to his vet appointment a month earlier. I grieve everyday. You have no idea how painful it was to get his annual checkup pamphlet through the mail and know his sweet soul is no longer on this Earth. Say his name.

They were very efficient, friendly and reassuring when they had to take a stray dog roaming around my house. He was rather large, so they had to call a few larger men, but they reassured me. He would not be put to sleep because although he was two years old, he was still very adoptable because of his 200 pound stature, friendly, kind nature & his breed being an English Mastiff.

They are very helpful and efficient. I took a dog we found on Clingman Road, under the rain and thunder, who was running all scared and between all the traffic. We hope his family goes and pick him up. The personnel was very kind. Thanks; CW4 SIXTO DE JESUS US ARMY RETIRED

It's always a sad thing to see animals in cages but the facility was clean, the animals all had food and water, and the staff were obviously compassionate about what they do. I adopted a sweet little pit bull from them that has been amazing in the 2 weeks that we've had her. Would highly recommend adopting from this facility!
