Had a horrible experience involving my dog and another in which resulted in both dogs dying. Animal control bullied me into surrendering my dog after a dog fight in which my dog killed a visiting friends dog. Back story is I had 2 black labs, sisters from the same liter. One had puppies, auntie loved them as if they were her own. Friends left their dog and their dogs puppy unattended inside my house( my dogs house). Their dog was not very friendly and they all got trapped in a room together( they could push the door open but not pull it open) the dogs started fighting, I heard the commotion and cleared all the puppies out of the room. I got my mommy dog out but my other dog was super focused on protecting our family and our home. My dog killed the other dog. It was a terrible situation, I

I am extremely disappointed in how this situation was handled by the Humane Society and the responding animal control officers, Aaron Bedow and Claudia Graham. While the situation has been publicly portrayed as urgent and well-managed, our experience was very different. Photos of my dog were posted without my or my family’s consent while they were “rescuing” him. At no point were we asked for permission before our personal situation was shared publicly. During what we experienced as a serious emergency, there was little reassurance, empathy, or urgency shown. There were moments where humor was added to the situation, which felt inappropriate given how severe and distressing the circumstances were. Our dog was visibly struggling, and this was not a lighthearted moment for our family. We

Was looking over my Google contributions and noticed this place tried to remove my review (???) so I’m reposting here, this was from 2021: This shelter really does love and care for their animals but unfortunately I had a bad experience in June of this year. First-off, they charged $10 for me to visit a dog and I've never been charged for a visit by any shelter. I drove a long way to visit one who was described as "a little shy" when really the poor guy should have been listed as feral and needing lots of socialization. He wasn't a good fit so then the worker offered to bring out another dog she said was also good with cats. The dog was super sweet and I was ready to take the old girl home but then the worker checked the her file again and said "oops, sorry, she is really bad with cats".

WVHS staff was so kind and helpful. In late Nov 2025, at their “clear the shelter” event, We interviewed a couple of dogs before the shelter staff suggested Maverick (aka Rodeo) who had been with them since May.. We wouldn’t normally have considered a husky, but he’s turning out to be the best dog ever. He’s a happy, social butterfly who is kind to all creatures: kids, adults, our cats, even the yappy little dogs next door! Rodeo is our second WVHS dog. We adopted a sweet Doberman about 6 months ago and the two of them are best friends ! P.s. WVHS supplied paperwork that made it easy to cross the USA Canada border with our new dog.

Vet clinics should educate their clients on post surgery incision site safety instead of giving them plastic cones and calling it good. I got my cat spayed here and the cone was too big for her head. She kicked it off. I cut more holes in it to make it tighter. She kicked it off anyways. Spaying recovery is supposed to limit movement, but the cone caused her to to be stressed out, kicking, rolling, growling, and fidgeting around very rapidly. I had to hold her down as she was scratching and biting at me. She even bit her incision site. Someone came from the store to me with a healing onesie for spayed cats. It was made out of velcro and was too small. It was completely useless. Multiple people told me they have had cats slip right out of the onesies or even rip it open. My poor cat is now
