VCA Salem Animal Hospital

My sweet girl, Winnie, just whelped puppies over the weekend and wasn’t herself. After my primary vet couldn’t get her in until tomorrow, I called VCA Salem and they had incredible service. From the front staff, to vet techs, to Dr. Hughes, they all made me feel like Winnie’s care was their top priority. I can’t say thank you enough for making a very stressful and worrisome situation into one of utmost compassion and care. Many thanks!

I made an emergency visit for my cat Jagger and had him put down due to a huge tumor. He was a very loved and old cat and vca was very awesome and nice through the whole ordeal. What I didn’t expect was a signed card from the staff! I don’t agree with the price but appreciate the staff sending me a card. Thank you vca for your support! You all are awesome!!!!

I love this vet and recommend them all the time. Both my dogs are spooked at the vet and one of them is a pit mix who resorts to biting when he’s uncomfortable. My last vet ignored my request to hold him the right way and said “just pet him firmly and he’ll focus on that instead”. He was muzzle punched in the face with a wire muzzle and fell to the floor. So, I let my dog’s shots expire a bit because it wasn’t worth the risk of someone else getting hurt due to how they operate, and tried them out after a friend recommended them. This vet is the TOTAL opposite! From the first appointment they let me hold him and feed him a bunch of treats. We troubleshooted along the way and we got through it without anyone getting hurt or excessively stressed 🥳 They took their time and used lots of food

My beloved cat had a dental cleaning and some extractions done here. The surgical nurse, Lisa, was straight forward, compassionate, and patient. She kept me updated with progress, took care of my boy, and answered all my questions. He ended up needing 13 teeth removed. Dr. Madeline Frey went above and beyond for my boy and I will forever appreciate the care they provided both of us. The reception staff were also wonderful. And they let me keep my cat's teeth!

Last Friday, 8/5/22 we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to our 9-1/2 year old GSD, Thunder. I called around to several local veterinarian hospitals and none could get us in except VCA Salem Animal Hospital. Our boy had stopped eating. I thought he just had an upset stomach, but unfortunately it was much more dire than that. We were told that he had a mass inside his stomach and it had spread to his pancreas. The mass ruptured and our poor boy was bleeding internally and had become anemic. That day was one of the worst of my almost 54 years of life. The veterinarian was very patient, kind, and compassionate. It was hard to say goodbye because our boy marked a new beginning for my wife and I when we moved from Vancouver to Salem. So, it felt like a decade old chapter closed
