VCA Coolridge Animal Hospital

My first experience was the vet tech having to stick my small puppy multiple times for one injection. It was as if she had never given a shot before. Then I called on a Tuesday at 345pm to tell them my puppy was vomiting uncontrollably and the first words out of the staffs mouth was “don’t bring him here!” Though they were open until I think 6pm, they had no Vet there to treat any animals. Next my dog had to get fixed and have 2 baby teeth pulled. I was told by the surgeon herself because he was so nervous they would sedate him and do his surgery first. I dropped him off at 0800 and called at 11 to see how the surgery went. I was told that plans had changed, he had been sitting in a cage for 3 hours for no reason, and hadn’t been taken into surgery. I love the VCA Team from the front to the Dr's. They take very good care of my CoCo and explain everything. They take their time and never make you feel rushed. The front desk checkout ladies are wonderful and they love to hug on my CoCo. I also love that they have Saturday appointments available and they are very accommodating. Very professional. I would recommend VCA in Temple Hills, MD. Thank you guys for being so wonderful.

I'm so disappointed. I took my pet in for 5 vaccinations two weeks ago. The vet tech and veterinarian asked me if I would like to do additional testing which I declined. They gave my dog 3 vaccines and stated that I could return to have the last two vaccines administered. I agree and stated that I would pay for all vaccines during this initial visit. The veterinarian and tech both agreed and stated that the next appointment would just be a tech appointment where my dog and I would have the last 2 vaccines administered and we would be done with no bill or payment required. At the next appointment (today) for the last two vaccines, the tech states that at the previous appointment, they charged me for a test that I declined and that they need to charge me for the two additional vaccines. Was going here for three years but won't be back. The receptionist is amazing and always so friendly and you can tell everyone truly loves their jobs/pets. Brought my cat for a yearly check up and "hot spot". They took him back and 5 minutes later came back. Insane charge ($300) for the "hot spot" and told me it was infected. When I asked about his teeth health and weight the vet was in such a rush he told me 15 pounds and that his teeth were fine. I decided to go to another place to get a second opinion and my cat looked at. Leg was not infected, my cat weighed actually 17 pounds and is considered "overweight" and there are gingivitis issues with his teeth that needs to be addressed. Highly recommend VCA Coolridge. Staff and Dr. Maa are the best. Took my senior dog there for first time on emergency basis. Thought we may have to euthanize but after the caring and effective treatments there, my fur baby is back to his old bossy self. Will be using VCA Coolridge for all our needs in the future.
