I can’t say enough wonderful things about this rescue. They are incredibly thoughtful and intentional about matching each dog with the right home, and it’s obvious that every decision they make is rooted in genuine care for the dogs’ wellbeing. While it may take time to find the right match, it’s totally worth it! Unlike other organizations, the team wants you to know exactly what personality and behaviors their trainers have experienced while working with the dog. No surprises or sugar coating. The team goes above and beyond—not just for the animals in their care, but for all of the dogs within the community. Their dedication, compassion, and transparency truly set them apart. RISE is an amazing rescue with friendly staff that genuinely care for the wellbeing of their animals. They work hard to make sure that each dog goes home with an adopter or foster that is able to handle their needs. I love my little foster girl and am grateful to all the help and care they still give her, and am excited for the day that she will finally be an official part of my family. Thank you for all of your hard work, it is so, so appreciated in the community and what Clallam County needs!

Edit after they responded - they shared more information here and publicly about their decision here than we got in a very short email. And it does not even wholly reflect what I said. Wild. And the dogs are both still in the shelter. They deemed us “unqualified” after a 2-minute conversation about what we are looking for in a dog. No real reason(s), just a “feeling from the trainers” we never met or spoke to. It was wild to get the email, for sure. We are current rescue dog owners. This kind of felt like they wanted to keep one of the dogs we were interested in as a training dog for other incoming dogs (because they basically said this is what they do with the dog). The other dog we were interested in remains in their shelter a month later.

Megan and her team of devoted volunteers are rescuing and saving so many dogs in our community quietly and behind the scenes. Rise Rescue Alliance work with other shelters and bring dogs that are failing to thrive in the standard shelter environment, The Rise team also work with dogs that were abandoned or surrendered as they were not trained and the resulting behaviors were too much of a challenge for them. Rise Rescue has dedicated professional trainers that provide the love and structure for every one of their amazing dogs and bring out the wonderful qualities to be a qualities to be a loving lifelong addition to your home.
