I am the owner of a 2 yo fearful rescue dog. After a year of my own training regime I felt I needed professional dog behavior advice and through searching I decided on DBI. If you are looking for ways to help your dog become the best they can and you are willing to put in the work to train your dog this is the place for you. Stephanie came up with an individualized behavior plan which addressed my needs and my dog’s lack of appetite and her unwillingness to eat treats away from our home. As with most training, there were hits and misses. Stephanie really listens to what you and your dog are experiencing and modifies the behavior plan accordingly. Olive is a more confident dog since training with DBI.

The Dog Behavior Institute (DBI) is a crucial resource for humans and our canine companions! I found the DBI mission and approach to teaching exceptionally effective. DBI approaches everything they do with an intersectional framework, which creates a equitable, supportive, and inclusive space for everyone to learn. I have taken multiple virtual group courses with both Ran and Stephanie, the owners of DBI, and have also done some one-on-one virtual training with Ran to continue working on specific skills related to consent-based care. I loved the 'learning by doing' teaching approach where, while my dog and I were practicing our skills, Ran analyzed our behavior and then gave feedback in real time. I also appreciated the structure of HW assignments and quick feedback I would receive when

I took 2 rounds of Ran's muzzle puzzle class for my little chihuahua mix Jinya and did a few 1:1 sessions with them and it was such an incredible experience! The approach Ran takes to teaching is just wonderful. Everything is so thoughtful, collaborative, and they always ensure that you and your dog are feeling good during the process. I always felt safe to express concerns, ask questions, and request extra explanations when things didn't make sense to me. And thanks to Ran, Jinya will now happily opt into putting her muzzle on and can wear it for her vet appointments which was our entire goal! I highly highly HIGHLY recommend Ran (and Stephanie) at The Dog Behavior Institute!

We would highly recommend The Dog Behavior Institute. Stephanie was absolutely wonderful in her training of our Golden Retriever Sunny. Stephanie, is kind and caring and gave us so many lessons and guidance how to handle Sunny. Stephanie understands dogs and the worries that come in raising them. She put our needs and Sunny’s needs in front and showed so much attention and we can’t thank her enough. Anyone who hires Stephanie will be lucky and will be glad they did. Sincerely Frank and Hillary

I am using both trainers, Stephanie and Ran for a couple of different issues with my puppy. I cannot recommend them highly enough! Smart, kind, professional, organized, skilled, just the best. Before I started working with them, I was a little bit lost, and felt alone in dealing with his challenges, but now I feel totally supported and my pup is learning a lot, as am I!
