The adoption process was very pushy. Extremely long application and a home visit before you can even see the animal (which I can understand, they want a good home.) When you finally get an appointment though, you're expected to buy a collar and leash and come "READY TO ADOPT THE DOG" that you haven't even met. They won't tell you the price of the dog and they also won't tell you if you're going to be subject to all kinds of extra fees if the dog is deemed to be an "escape hazard." So you just have to bring $800 and spend extra money on accessories on the chance you decide you like the dog. Whatever, we really loved the dog. We show up with our slip lead and our collar and our money ready to meet the pup. The appointment email had strict instructions on how to behave once we entered the gr

I cannot say enough positive things about this rescue. The owner and all the volunteers were absolutely amazing. The love for their animals shows and everything they do and how well they treat and love the animals. I was blessed with finding my new fur buddy and you can just see the love that she has received during her stay there!

The Barking Lot is a wonderful rescue organization! I adopted my dog Sunny from the organization and beyond thankful for adopting her. She is an absolutely amazing dog and has quickly made herself at home with me and my family. The overall adoption process can be a little bit long depending so plan for that. I was able to do the home check and adoption process all in one day with an appointment. Everyone was very friendly and helpful through the whole process. The adoption process of the dog took about ~3hours which included meeting the dog, taking her for a walk and getting to know her and then confirm the adoption and paperwork and adoption rules and guidances. The organization goes to great lengths to make sure the adopter and the dog are a good fit. If you are looking for a new dog fr

It's a wonderful rescue with great people. Our adoption went smoothly and if anything stuff and Stacy the owner was anything but patient with us. There's lot of negative reviews, all in my opinion from lack of understanding what adopting of a pet is really about. There should be commitment for better or worse and if you believe in re-homing after you adopt, in my personal opinion you should not adopt at all. Place doesn't smell roses? Well come and help them out to clean and walk dogs and become a volunteer. Otherwise you have no right to judge. Keeping that many doggies is messy, nothing else to talk about. We had wonderful experience, we absolutely love little girl Mabeline and thinking of adopting another dog as soon as Mae "sattled down" if you will. On a price note, it's really not ex

We are so thankful for finding our newest member of our family through The Barking Lot! Shocking to see so many negative reviews and clearly people don’t understand what rescuing a dog is all about - our process was absolutely wonderful! In under 24 hours we put our application in, had a house inspection and went out to Ramoa to meet the dogs! Being a non profit organization, you could tell that Stacey and her team really care for all the dogs and are determined to give each dog the best possible life and owners possible. It’s a slow process as it should be and it’s worth spending a few hours out in Ramoa. We met three dogs and had the chance to play with each. She answered all our questions and told us the good and the bad about each - helping us make a well rounded decision. When w
