This is my favorite shelter and, while I don't live in Anderson, I will still go out of my way to go here to adopt furry friends. I've adopted four cats from them and they are the four best cats ever. My latest experience with them was 2/14/26 and it was great, but all my experiences with them are. This place works really hard and truly deserves praise.

I adopted a shelter dog! However, I wasn't able to bring her home today due to her having the "kennel cough". It's perfectly ok. They will take great care of her until she's well, then I will be able to bring her home to her doggie sister and cat/dog brother. Pics below and more to come!

Brought home an 8 year old chocolate lab mix. Fits in well with my other 4 pups (2 pointers, beagle bulldog mix and an Australian Shepard. My first 4 aren't sure what to think just yet, but they are being very polite. No one likes to share their parents... lol

So so heartbroken with our experience. We applied for an adoption via online application. Received a call the next day and we asked about a litter of pups that had just come in. Lady answered saying on they are going to another shelter so you can’t get one of them. Seriously!!!! Another shelter versus an approved family!?! How on earth is that helping these poor things! So we sucked up the disappointment and inquired about another dog Karly, and it’s been crickets since. I called numerous times with no response. Poor Karly is STILL on the “adoptable dogs” page and you have a family wanting to help the organization and the animal… absolutely despicable. Shame on you.

My wife and I adopted a 2 year old cat that we found at PetSmart. He’s the sweetest little cat, loves everyone, just wants to be snuggled. The woman that I talked with from the adoption agency was really kind and talked me through everything that was included with the adoption and his medical history. Customer service was great! The not so great stuff - when we adopted him we took him to VCA (using the $250 voucher included with adoption) for his initial check up. They found that he had a deep double ear infection along with a coccidiosis parasitic infection. The infection is highly contagious to other cats and dogs and requires a lot of post treatment cleaning. Fortunately, he is our only pet, so we did not have to worry about it spreading to other pets and incurring additional treatment
