Even though we were there do put down our dog Holly(Dr. found out she had a tumor between her esophagus and lung), Dr Martinez and Allison were so compassionate and kind. And very comforting. I can’t tell you how much that meant to us. We will forever be grateful. We have another dog Fenway who will be coming to your vet for all her visits. We travel full time in our RV with our 3 dogs. One of them had a tumor grow very quickly on her tail and burst. We needed it looked at right away. They got us in that day, recommended amputation of the tail because it tested positive for cancer. Met with surgeon and had surgery in just a few days time. She’s recovering great and we were able to move on to our next stop. Thank you guys the staff and Drs were so kind!

This was my first visit to Tavares Animal Hospital, but definitely not my first time seeing Dr. Rick. I've been following him since 1996—and for good reason. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and truly passionate about caring for animals. What I appreciate most is that he always puts the well-being of the pets first, never recommending unnecessary treatments. The staff at Tavares Animal Hospital was also very welcoming and friendly, which made the visit even better. Thank you again, Dr. Rick, for helping Miss Baylee! If I could give negative stars I would. The people were great. But, if you have a bird, whatever you do, avoid this place at all costs. Go find an actual avian vet. I thought it would be convenient having a vet that claims to have bird experience close by, but it's like they've never even seen a bird. Went in for a simple nail trim, and had to return, because they darn near cut off the entire nail, and he was severely bleeding by the time I got home. I've never seen such incompetence. My little IRN - my HEALTHY baby since he was 4 weeks old - darn near bled out because of them. I will NEVER be back. That was SO scary and very disappointing.

One of the best animal hospitals in central florida. All the doctors (Especially Dr. Rick!) are wonderful and very knowledgeable. They dont over prescribe medications and recommended alternatives for home. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I drive 45 mins for all my dogs to go here.
